Regarding the Revs and their lack of SSS, would it be possible to convert one or two of the large parking lots across from Gillette into a SSS?

Certainly would save you a lot of money, but I don't know that a natural grass field + not having an empty upper deck, alone, would be worth it. The access issues obviously are still there. (Also, FWIW, I know that a lot of the Gillette Stadium parking land had been earmarked for an office park and lab space recently, at least pre-COVID. Plus the presumed expansion of the strip mall.)

Oh, cool! Yet another Phoenix based team is ignoring the disaster that is the Coyotes moving out to Glendale and have learned absolutely nothing from it. I sure hope these guys know what they’re doing, because this seems downright stupid to me.

Having to look up a map on the location .... Imagine having to choose between going there, a Coyotes/Cardinals game or a Suns/D-Backs game at the same day....

I saw, I came, I left.

I had several occasions while living in Phoenix where I chose a D Backs/Suns/Rattlers game over a Coyotes/Cards game simply because it was such a hassle to get out to Glendale. Chandler seems to have anstronger concentration of people than Glendale, and while I was there it was a lot easier to get to and around in Chandler. But when I was there it was basically empty, so of course it was easy to get around.

So if Phoenix Rising goes to MLS, do they keep that stadium?

possibly for a practice facility or USL club. They would need a bigger, climate controlled stadium if they were to go to MLS

Probably use State Farm Stadium as temporary stadium.  Of course, in MLS "temporary" means 20 years,

Meanwhile Darlington Nagbe and Pedro Santos are out for the MLS Cup. Presumably COVID. So close!

I put $30 on Seattle earlier today at pick' em. I'm surprised the line hasn't changed.

Regretting that bet about now.

Seattle played one fewer game than Columbus and had two fewer points. Seems pretty stupid that Columbus is hosting today, especially with fans in attendance.

This should have been a neutral field match.

The match was going to be in Columbus regardless. The Crew just happened to win the right to be there.

Giving up at 3-0. Seattle's had an incredible run so I'm not mad at all. Congratulations to Columbus, the fans who kept the team there, and MAPFRE Stadium. Not the result I wanted, but you really can't win them all.

Good work Crew!

Ohio currently through the end of the year has a curfew in place beginning at 10pm. The MLS cup was one of four variances that the Governor is giving. The other three are Monday Night Football games in both Cleveland and Cincinnati and the American Conference football championship game in Cincinnati. A small amount of fans were allowed for the MLS Cup, with limited fans for the MNF games. University of Cincinnati stated that there would be no fans at Nippert Stadium this season, I assume that will be the case for the Championship game too.

I really want to drag Columbus for having fans but honestly, every single team would if they could, even the “progressive” ones, if not for government regulations.

Oh absolutely. If fans were allowed at any of the recent Sounders or Seahawks games, they'd have sold out the allotment easy.

Congrats to the Crew for putting together a strong season and persevering when it mattered most.

I recall watching them throughout the MIB tournament. The commentators thought this club could be a force in the playoffs this year after last year's mid-season struggles. Boy, were they right!

LAFC-America in CONCACAF Champions League tonight...

The last ten minutes of the first half is proof why CONCACAF has an alternate definition as a verb. God, these refs are awful. Also, nautical nonsense must be something that Memo Ochoa wishes.

I didn't realize the game was on until 64:00. I'll need to catch up on the CONCACAF shenanigans, which I'm sure are infuriating.

EDIT:

Doesn't matter -- LAFC makes it through to the CCL Final!
