So here's a question. Would anyone be opposed to a two-loss Clemson making it if the other three teams are an unbeaten Alabama, an unbeaten Ohio State, and, say, a one-loss Texas A&M?

See, I'm trying to avoid being biased in favor of Notre Dame, given I'm a Notre Dame fan. I would be ecstatic if they were to play in, say, the Orange Bowl against Florida.

Stop being a troll. Saying an undefeated, ACC champ Notre Dame belongs in the playoffs isn't bias, it's how the system is supposed to work.

You need to stop being so afraid of a theoretical embarrassing loss, and just enjoy the ride. Alabama and Ohio State have had their butts kicked in the playoffs too. It happens. Stop dwelling on the past and try some optimism. You might have fun.

Have you forgotten what happened the last couple times Notre Dame got this high? All the more reason to exclude them. Besides, consider the program and how their academic standards do not match the academic standards of Clemson or Alabama or Ohio State. Let's reserve the CFP for scholar athletes.

I'm pretty sure that other schools fans here would be happy to have to risk getting blown out. As far as academics, everyone is on the same page as there's no in person classes at the majority of schools. It also sounded pretty petty when some schools accused others if cheating because they allowed players to take online classes in previous years.

Did you even read the second part of my post? You can't just write teams off because of what's happened in past seasons. Alabama got soundly beaten by Clemson the same year Notre Dame did. Ohio State was shut out in 2017. Do you hold those games against them now? Of course not, because that's ridiculous. Stop being such a pessimist and try to have fun.

This season isn't necessarily exposing how obvious the process has been because that's been obvious enough. It's just made the process that much more naked. Ohio State's resume doesn't paint a picture of a great team. The Ohio State name does. This is the year of the asterisk. I say throw either Coastal or Cincinnati in the playoff, then everybody can whine if/when they get blown out as if the semifinals aren't mostly blowouts anyway.

Which ultimately doesn't mean much, though.  Alabama claims a championship from a year they finished 20th in the AP poll and 3rd in the SEC.  This wouldn't even crack the list of most questionable national champions.  I think it depends on who wins it, too.  If Ohio State wins it all, yeah, them only playing six games while others played eleven is worth noting.  If Alabama wins out, they played the most games, they played 10 SEC games, why should that be questioned?  Because they didn't get to beat Coastal Carolina by 60 along the way?  Same goes for Clemson, Notre Dame, and Florida.

But I can't really explain the Iowa State thing.  The worst part is, it's probably not going to work itself out in the Big XII Championship Game since even if they lose, they're just going to move Oklahoma up to their place.  The Big XII (well, Oklahoma anyway) routinely embarrasses itself in the playoff and went 0-3 against the Sun Belt this year (including Iowa State losing to Louisiana).  There's really no reason the conference should get the respect it does outside of brand recognition of some of its schools.  Cincinnati really deserves genuine consideration this year.

I'm not normally in favor of an eight team playoff, but this year, they should have done it.

Apparently Utah State is going after Blake Anderson and I have no idea why. If this happens though, I will change my avatar back to some dumb wrestling thing, so that's exciting.

EDIT: And it's official. I have no idea why Utah State would go this direction.

SEC, ESPN strike 10-year deal for college football, basketball starting in 2024

I don't like how ESPN has their hands in everything but I can't be disappointed about not having to listen to Gary Danielson spend four and a half hours talking about how great Alabama is... during a game in which Alabama isn't even playing.

Regarding Blake Anderson, I saw this about him today and it broke me.

If CBS gets the Big XII, will he switch to Oklahoma?

I can't imagine how much that would hurt to have to deal with things like this. I feel for him.

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if he still just talks nonstop about Alabama.  He still likes to compare any white QB running with the ball to Tebow.  Speaking of... I can't complain too much because I do remember how obnoxious he and everyone else was with Tebow.

It's really feels like he needed a change of scenery. This season sort of felt like everything that people were critical about finally coming to a head, probably exacerbated by the conference being significantly better than when he showed up in 2014 so it was harder to get away with things, and honestly I doubt his heart was totally in it this year and I don't blame him.

EDIT: In lighter, much funnier news, Arizona State is up 42-0 on Arizona. It's still the first half.

In any other year, vs any other team, it would be in bad form to go THIS hard against an obviously overmatched opponent. But it’s 2020 and it’s the Arizona Wildcats. :censored: them and :censored: this wretched year. I hope they score 100.

Damn the Cats really got a bath tonight. This team seriously could’ve beaten USC last month?

Lets have there be a toilet bowl in a couple of weeks: Arizona vs Kansas.

We should just get all of the winless teams together. My money's on ULM or UMass being the worst in all of college football. Kansas or Vandy might be the lowest of the P5, which feels very right. Just need Northwestern and Stanford to fall back down to make it more like my childhood.

This Arizona State-Arizona game really made me wish Florida got to play Florida State this season.

The last two seasons have been nice but this year... the best Florida team in over a decade... a terrible Florida State team that long ago gave up...

As fun as this game was, it’s still kinda sad because it’s a bit of a reflection of what this team could’ve been had COVID not tanked the season for everyone. They may not have won the PAC 12, but they absolutely would’ve been in contention. Jayden Daniels is rounding into form and is easily the most talented quarterback they’ve had since I’ve been following them. He could have a big year if we get a normalish 2021 season.

What a weird game. Daniels threw 11 passes, and Arizona had more first downs than ASU, and they won by 63. I’ve been to a few of their tune up home openers against D2 teams like Sacramento State and Northern Arizona and I’ve never seen them absolutely blow the doors off of a team like that before. Love to see it against enemy #1.

The beating Arizona State laid on Arizona was SO bad that the Mildcats told Kevin Sumlin to enjoy the pink slip he just got.

Speaking of Arizona State vs. Arizona

Here's a fun little article on Jackson He, Their Chinese born RB.

This is why you shouldn't hire guys that were removed from their job instead of leaving for money or something, like what happened with Charlie Strong at USF. Anyway, looks like Arkansas State is hiring Butch Jones. I don't think I hate it.
