Is conference-only scheduling really a solution to anything?  Why does it makes sense for Florida to play Missouri but not Florida State?

It's not. None of this makes sense. I don't know how forcing every team in the PAC12 to go to Arizona is somehow safer than going elsewhere in the country. Same with the ACC with Miami and FSU, if they go conference only.

Just cancel the season already. This is stupid.

The only way conference-only scheduling could work is maybe if they did the bubble system that MLS is doing. And at this point, I’m still skeptical of that working. If it does however, then maybe you can do something similar.

Otherwise, the conferences are all too spread out for this to make sense. The Sun Belt, SEC, American, and C-USA all stretch from the east coast to Texas (special nod to C-USA for El Paso) and a lot of those schools are in current hotspots.

Let’s just punt to spring and show the XFL and AAF how this thing is done.

Both the NJCAA and CCCAA appear to be going to spring football. California plans to start practice in January and games in February and I would assume the NJCAA does the same. This shouldn't be a problem for Southern teams, but there are 8 teams in MN, 7 in the Northeast and 1 apiece in Utah and North Dakota.

Bubble wouldn’t work because they are students. They still gotta do classes.

Yeah, probably not. Granted, lots of schools (if not all) will be doing online only. So that problem could conceivably be handled, but doesn't handle a million others. Like picking sites, and those sites being appropriately setup as a bubble. Not all of the 130 FBS schools can go hang out in a resort, and it's difficult enough to keep that bubble intact even with professionals instead of college kids.

One of the teams in North Dakota (Dakota College at Bottineau) dropped their program after last season. The other (North Dakota State College of Science) still has a team in the MCAC along with the other Minnesota schools. The one in Utah (Snow) is an Independent program. Other then those schools, you have 5 in New York and 1 in Pennsylvania.

Yes, a lot of schools have dropped JuCo football recently. All the AZ schools did 1 or 2 years ago and there used to be a league in MI-IL-IA that collapsed not that long ago. I am mostly worried about the weather for these teams. 6 of the 8 MN schools are located in the Northern part of the State.

U of A in September! Well, they’re a cupcake matchup already, so we might as well get them out of the way early 😎

I agree, though it seems unfair that us ASU fans get to have an FCS warmup while everybody else has to play real schools. Not that I'm complaining. That's right! I'm still on the Sun Devil bandwagon!

Well, looks like the Big 12 might be the lone wolf in playing a traditional schedule unless something happens on Monday where they change it up.

What about the Group of 5 conferences? Has anyone heard anything about what they plan to do??

We’re beholden to our P5 overlords, so we have to wait until they all make their decisions.

As an alumnus of a P5 school, I just want to thank you for your patience as your overlords are hard at work.

Thanks, pal. Is the check from Michigan in the mail yet, or what?

Now the Power 5 is taken care of after the Big 12's decision to go with a 9+1 scheduling model, it's now time to see how the Group of 5 will deal with it.

First off is the Sun Belt, who has announced that Everything will be running as normal as possible.

It is easy to commend them for opting out but the truth is that, as an independent, they wouldn't be able to fill a schedule anyway.

In a way, you're right. Half of their schedule was gone thanks to other conferences either going with a conference only schedule or outright cancelling their seasons. People are going to say that health and the safety of the players are a big part of the decision... but half their season gone, I think it was a money decision.

I also want to say that at this point, I personally think that Group of 5 schools might want to start planning to schedule games against fellow Group of 5 schools. The Sun Belt is going to allow each member to have their four non-conference games and from my research, it comes out like this:

-Appalachian State and Troy comes out the worst for wear as they lost three non-conference games each

-Coastal Carolina lost one game and has the potential to lose another game depending on what Kansas does for their 9+1 format

-Most of the schools have lost at least 1 game

-Texas State is the lucky one as they've lost no games.
