Wouldn't mind seeing this proposed helmet design from the 70s, remodeled with the modern logo '74%20falcons%20proto.jpg

This.  Maybe a sleeker stripe but yes...this.

If not, Arthur Blank kept mentioning that the redesign will represent the city...which makes me think we’ll get silver/grey for some reason.  Would not hate a Grey helmet.

The LAST thing the Falcons need to do is switch to a white helmet. I think they should keep the black helmet, but I would at least understand a change to red due to the history. But the Falcons have ZERO history with white helmets, right? Why make such a major change that’s basically the opposite of what they’ve been wearing their whole history?

glossy red helmet, no stripes, black facemask, current logo. Wear that over a black jersey with white pants. Done.

I've never understood the love for the original logo nor the hate for the current one.

I really don’t care if they go with black or red as the primary jerseys, but black helmets are 100% the way to go. As @8BW14 said, the red helmet with black jerseys just looks a bit odd and unbalanced.

Personally, I’d like to see them try and use stripes based on the logo. Shameless self-plug from my NFL concept thread:

So Louisville’s uniform

The Bucs had ZERO history with Pewter.

I hate the new Buccaneers logo. Pewter was boring in 97, even more boring now.

I had never seen that one. I think that would look really good. Especially with red jersey's.

White helmets can look absolutely fantastic, especially for teams that have Black as a primary:

The problem is that the NFL, as far as I know or have seen, does not allow Black hardware on the helmet - meaning no Black front/rear bumpers, chinstraps/cups/clips.  That Black hardware is really what makes a White helmet stand out.  With the White hardware, it just looks too plain or naked, even with decals.  There's just too much White.

So, unless the league would change its rules, I doubt that that Falcons would switch to White.  And honestly, my feelings are the same for them changing to a Grey helmet, as the Black hardware is again what makes it work so well:

That makes me think gold for Georgia Tech and perhaps Atlanta United.

They didn’t have any history of success, either.

Would be surprising, but bold and potentially pretty neat.

Wouldn't be that surprising. Gold fits with what AMB likes to do for his teams. Red, Black and Gold. So that switch from Silver to gold while unexpected by some here, could make a ton of sense once the logo package and jerseys are finalized.

They actually did. They've won divisions twice before the change, and almost made a Super Bowl in 1979 wearing the same uniform they entered the league in. People just tend to remember that uniform for those first two years because sports media is lazy when it comes to promoting teams. Dallas is a perfect example. A year in review title ran with "America's team" and it's been used ironically since 1996 by non-Cowboy fans.

I promise you the helmet will be black or red. Again, Blank made it clear he's been listening to the fans. This isn't 2002 when a team had been wearing a plain-jane uniform for so long and fans got jealous of the Patriots, Rams and Eagles and pleaded with owners for something "kewl."

The overwhelming consensus is fans want something that harkens back to an old era. The unique part is that unlike some other teams where one uniform reigns supreme, the Falcons fanbase seems to be split 33-33-33 on wanting the 60s style, 80s style or 90s style.

Again, I HOPE and BELIEVE these are going to be tasteful and simple but not throwbacks. But white or grey helmets? Not a chance. They aren't going to create an overall aesthetic that's new or deviates from the past.
