If accurate it looks like UVa has switched to orange numbers on the helmet decal to go along with the revised V-sabre, differing from last year.

Should've put the logo on both sides.

God I can't wait until this trend dies.

100% agree. Barring that, they should at least be consistent with the format of the numbering on the helmets and jerseys. I know they've revised the V-Sabre and the number font, but last year the helmet number matched the jersey number in both color and lack of an outline:

If they don't update the 2020 blue jerseys to have orange numbers with a white outline then it will be an unwelcome return to this type of inconsistency they used in 2016, but worse:

UVA will be getting new numbers so it's possible that the numbers will be orange.

I could have sworn there was a picture of UVA's lockerroom corner where the blue jerseys were hanging with the new number font...and the numbers were plain white...

This might have been it...it was a while back...

The bevel on the V is really a downgrade. Looked better sans bevel. The rest of the look is pretty great.

Boston College Eagles To Bring Back 1984 Throwback Road Uniforms

August 28, 2020 - 00:42 AM

Boston College hired former Ohio State defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley this offseason to resurrect a program that has reached double-digit wins just two times in the last 35 seasons. So, in an effort to return the Eagles to their glory days, Hafley reintroduced the road version of their 1984 throwback uniforms

I thought Virginia got rid of the squiggle in the sword handles because it represented a wall on campus that was used to hide the slaves that were working on campus.

That's the original layout.

Old gold is so much better than Vegas gold. I don't know why football teams don't use it more often.

The "V" on the 2020 helmet has the new beveling but I don't see any on the accompanying sabre helmet sticker.  The updated logo 2.0, without the serpentine wall-esque blade handles, has beveling on the sabre itself (see below) so I'm wondering if they used an old sticker or Photoshop on the helmet shown above.

Probably Photoshopped the first helmet sticker they saw.

Look like Wake is bringing back the glossy helmets (they've had matte the last few seasons). Old deacon still on the neck...

Disappointed Wake took that gate pattern off the shoulder caps, that was one of the classier while still really unique details in a group of (generally) pretty lame/empty modern uniform sets

They've also come out with these alternates.

I honestly hate the argument that this “won’t change anything”. No one is claiming that the black W or dropping (Washington Football Team) will solve everything. The truth of the matter is that these teams aren’t part of the government, and their actions hold no real political power. So when we argue that the actions have no value and won’t contribute to further legislation, it undercuts the real purpose of the change and leaves some mad at the team for something they can’t control.

I generally agree with this. A lot of this stuff feels performative right now, and I’m sure a good handful of it will fade away because a lot of these institutions don’t care about anything but lip service at this point. But, while that’s mostly pretty :censored:ty, I do think it does help to shift the long term collective consciousness of the nation. A lot of the excuse I hear from people not paying any attention to this is either “I had no idea how bad it really is.” or, more cynically, “I don’t care how bad it is, and want to be distracted from it with some good ol sportsball.” Now, a patch obviously isn’t gonna [Insert Admiral’s MISSION ACCOMPLISHED MEME HERE] on race relations, it’ll help to educate those who might care, and make it annoyingly difficult for those who don’t care to completely ignore.

I get the sentiment behind it but this just looks horrible.

Swapping the colors would work better, or lessening the amount of white involved. Doing a sleeve stripe like they have done with the helmet stripe.
