Aren't there guys from that 2017 Astros team that are on other teams now?  Will their "new" fans heckle them?  Will their current teammates hate them because they cheated with the Astros, or look the other way because they're teammates now?

It's all so confusing. Whatever the case, I will be that guy who roots for the Astros against the Red Sox and Yankees.

Are there any Astros fans that can give us insight into what the expected fan response will be in Houston? Is attendance expected to decrease?

They are probably going the route of “the rest of the league is out to get us.” I’ve seen plenty on social media trying to justify what the Astros did from their fans. “Well if they were smart enough they would have done it too” to “it wasn’t even a advantage like our owner said” and “we’ll just win it again this year to show you haters it had nothing to do with cheating.” Pretty much Houston fans are going full Boston fan with this whole thing.

Marwin Gonzalez plays for the Twins.  He threw out some lame apology.  My guess is that Twins fans don't react with any negativity towards him.  First, I'd guess a high percentage don't even realize he was on that team. Second, that's how fans are...they let their own guys off the hook.

My guess is that a guy like that will get lower-level boos on the road.  Again, most fans won't even realize he was a part of that.  To steal from Seinfeld, a lot of fans will be booing laundry.

I wonder whether someone like Gonzalez will be thrown at to the same degree someone like Altuve will...

Spring Training is here, and the Astros are already getting hecklers.

This probably won't be the only thing that's coming their way this season. It's gonna be interesting how they respond to all of this.

I saw someone on twitter put it this way:

Now the Astros are even stealing signs about them stealing signs.

The future looks bright for Toronto. Although, I have a feeling the Jays are going to grind Ryu into dust sooner, rather than later. The rest of the pitching staff needs to be ready to pick up the slack, and contribute so it all doesn't have to fall onto Ryu's shoulders.

Still 4th best team in the division, though.

At least we're not Baltimore...

Vancouver is apparently a relocation possibility for the Diamondbacks...

This one’s intriguing, though I believe that MLB would do what they can to keep the Diamondbacks in Arizona should thing get any more serious.

Amazing that a stadium built less than 25 years ago has “structural issues” 🙄

I don’t buy that nonsense for a single second. This is simply the D Backs trying to hold Maricopa County hostage for a new building like all of the other teams there have before them. Knowing that county? They’ll eventually cave and Phoenix will have a shiny new publicly funded baseball stadium and no cops.

The Phoenix area really isn’t a very good baseball market, which is sort of shocking considering how popular Spring Training is. I think the issue is that once ST ends and Phoenix turns into the surface of the sun come the summer time, nobody has any motivation or desire to go sit inside of a dimly lit warehouse and watch a (mostly) :censored:ty baseball team lose. Even if that warehouse is still perfectly suitable for baseball. Not only that, there are very few people who are actually from Phoenix. There are a TON of transplants from the Midwest or Southern California who are already Cubs or Dodgers fans. Hell, even our “Southwest Chapter President” @Gary is originally from (I think) Flint, Michigan 😂

That being said, it’s still not an AWFUL market. They draw surprisingly mediocre, but they’re still at least middle of the pack. And where else are you going to put them? Phoenix is HUGE, and has been growing pretty rapidly for a long time now.  They have nearly six million people and either are already or are soon going to be the fourth largest city in the country.

EDIT: Just checked that. They’re 5th, but have been slowly gaining on Houston.

Point is, the D Backs play in a nice huge stadium downtown that’s less than a quarter century old in a top 5 city (in terms of population) in the entire country. If you can’t make it work there, you’re probably stupid, greedy, or both.

This is definitely on the current ownership group.
