They’re not testing the Phillies?  If you can’t handle the testing delays and your schedule is too crammed, call the season and fire Manfred.

edit:  close it up

Yeah, this whole thing is probably over by the end of the week, if I had to guess.

Going 2-2 vs the Dodgers in 4 possible games is enough for me to declare the Giants 2020 World Series Champions, right?

How do the other leagues have the saliva tests that are quicker and more accurate, but MLB seems to have the swabs, which take 2-3 days?

Don't get me wrong - I think it's a crime that athletes have access to the types of tests that are inaccessible to the people that really need it, but if the other leagues could do it, why not the one with the most compressed schedule?

Phillies vs Yankees postponed over concerns that the Marlins contaminated the visitors clubhouse at CBP.

The Phillies are getting their road clubhouse staff tested.  Looks like some teams - like the Yankees - actually bring their own staff on the road, while others - like the Marlins - rely on the home team to provide staff.  I have a feeling that they will require all visiting teams to bring their own people so as not to accidentally expose any employees of the host team.

Screw Florida.  Everything about it.

If it bleeds, it leads has been a news industry standard since at least William Randolph Hearst. I don't think this issue is going away anytime soon but I do find it ghoulish how some of them are almost reveling in the carnage.

I mean, it's no surprise.  It's a major multi-billion dollar industry with egg on its face.  While in the long term it murders sports journalism root and stem, in the short term they have to get their clicks and views to rack up that revenue and clout while there's gettin' to get.

Honestly, do what MLS did and boot the Marlins from the season. If another team gets that many positive tests, boot them too.

This is precisely when you get into the "what's the point" area of the debate.  If you have teams dropping out on a weekly basis, or having their rosters filled with taxi squads who would otherwise never see a professional field, if you have major names in the league suddenly back out to save their families, and there were only 60 games to begin with...what's the point?

Quick scan of this board shows that so do our beloved board members.

In fairness this is really gone straight to worst-case failure of the MLB scheme. Whoops. Should've bubbled!

The point at this point is the point itself.

I believe this country needs sports at this point. We need something to gather around and be able to talk about without worrying that some bastard with too much time on his hands will ruin your life because reasons. Sports is that thing right now.

But when you're rallying point as a culture is decimated within 2 weeks, maybe we should re-evaluate how much of a pillar we put sports on when things go bad.  We can't quite count on them in this situation.

Swabs can be done in 24 hours. Every test I’ve done had gotten results the next day. Mine just have priority tags put on them as a testing worker. I’d assume the mlb would get the same tags. And swabs are more accurate than a cheek swab

At this very moment, all 30 MLB teams are either 2-1 or 1-2.

Look it up.

Well, except for the Dodgers and Giants at 2-2.

Odd - I read it's been nearly forever for that to have happened. It doesn't strike me as that outlandish. I'm trying to find that tweet.

per a Tweet - I'm not going to independently verify:

2020 is the first MLB season without... a team starting 3-0 since 1954 a team starting 0-3 since 1961 a 3-0 start or 0-3 start since 1953

It's where I sit.

Far be it from me to defend these jackals, but gloom, doom, and panic pays the bills.

Just cancel the MLB & NFL season this year.

It’s clear that only the NBA & NHL give a crap (or at least trying to).

if they cared, they would have banned teams from California, Arizona, Texas, and Arizona, and work to find replacement arenas for those teams in less volatile states.

But instead they chose to play russian roulette with COVID-19.
