28-10 is a blowout? You people.

Well it was a blowout. I was at that game. Packers dominated the whole game. Brady threw 3 picks and threw his only touchdown with 6 mins left making it 28-10.

If they did indeed unveil incorrect pants, and are using the ones on the mascot/in the style guide, that *greatly* influences my opinion of these things.

Have we seen the style guide?

I feel like this is a weird case of a lateral move in the uniform category, but a downgrade with the original color rush design. I do like the idea, but the execution is off. The pants are weirdly striped, the white jersey needs more blue/silver to help balance out the colors, and there needs to be some silver pants to help break up all the blue. It's ok. I will wait until they hit the field for my full judgement though.

I like these slightly more than the previous uniform set, but this one still leaves a bit to be desired.

I've been looking for the best way to describe my opinion. I think this is it.

Here is something that could be possible given the situation we are in. Nike might not have gotten the new pants to the Pats in time for the player photoshoot and they just use the color rush pants they had on hand. The new pants arrived in time to take the pictures with the mascot.

As I said I am not sure which it is. I have an email out asking for clarity.

That’s a strong possibility.

I saw something similar happen when I was doing this kind of work, but that was second division US soccer. You would think that a league like the NFL could work it out with their primary supplier in time for a photo shoot. Considering we’re all in lockdown right now, though? Maybe not.

I wonder, while the other teams have been able to put out proper announcements (see the Brown pics of an impromptu photo shoot in a garage) despite the circumstances, is it possible the Patriots were impacted more than others? Hence the bare bones release and inconsistencies of the pants from the announcement, mascot pics, and style guide (according to canzman)? I mean, all the early announcements may have been a little better off because they started preparing a little earlier, but if the Patriots were always planning to announce this week, the circumstances could have left them scrambling to make due with what they had.

Man, who ever woulda thought the Browns would make the Patriots look bad?

Good:

- Blue Jersey

- White Jersey

- UCLA stripes comes down quite far on the back.  I'd be curious to see how it looks with players with longer names.

Bad:

- No TV numbers

- No silver pants

- No white pants

- The font/numbers is a downgrade and I don't love the outline pattern.

Ugly:

- Those pants... woof.

- The red facemask... there just has to be something better they can do with that

A white Texans helmet has always seemed off to me, but I can’t figure out why

The Texans originally planned to wear white helmets, but switched to blue before their first game.

This wasn't a case of the 49ers "one-day" helmet, either - the white helmets were around for long enough that the Texans' helmets in Madden 2002 were white.

Very possible. Nike might have been of the mindset that we have until mid April to get these done and prioritize other earlier announcements and then lockdown happened. Keep in mind this was probably going to be a live announcement and not just a photoshoot release. So getting them done more in advance of the actual release date was not as major of an issue.

Yep - apparently should isn't mandatory in the Rule Book. My apologies for thinking it was.

Since when have the Patriots ever been concerned with what's in the rule book?

The striping on the navy top feels off to me. RBR works on the white but I feel the navy should be WRW striping.

Overall this is a fail. It's a change for change sake rather than a change to make the look better.

Pants stripe thickness should match shoulder striping.

Mono look is terrible needs silver or white pants.

If your not gonna throwback OG flying elvis for a couple games what's even the point of retaining the silver helmet?

This isnt Falcons bad. No oversized or chrome bull :censored:. Definitely not a good change.

Fixed the pants. How difficult was this? (Quick Photoshop using a trackpad, excuse the relative messiness.)

Others have said something, but I too would make the middle stripe blue on the gray pants, so they can be worn with the white jerseys too.

Fixed the issue of the unnecessary flying Elvis logo on the sleeve (along with a change to silver pants).

Take away shoulder stripes and I’m good with this.

I see it a lot like CLEstones does:

Good:  Blue Jersey

           Helmet unchanged

           Numbers are fine with me.

           Logo on sleeves

Bad:  White jersey (Stripes need to be blue-red-blue, not red-blue-red)

Lack of grey/silver in uniforms except helmet and barely in numbers.

          No TV numbers

No grey/silver pants for home jersey.

Font/Numbers are meh at best.  At least older ones were instantly recognizable.

Pant stripes are bad, too Houston.  Why not equal width red-white-red?

Shoulder stripes in general do not work well anymore.  If they cannot loop around the pits they just look bad.

So, I add the Patsies to the Bad list along with Atlanta.  Count now is 3 good (CLE, TBY, INDY) and 2 bad (NE, ATL) with the Rams (worried!) and Chargers (hopeful) left.

Don't understand this uniform change. Seems unnecessary. What it replaced was fine and the striping issue is strange.

Here's what the corrected stripes would look like with a navy middle stripe instead of white.

No, it was just a placeholder Madden added into the game because the uniforms hadn’t been released yet, so they kind of just had to guess. It was also an era where they couldn’t just patch that particular file with an internet update, either.
