That name's stupid too. For the same reason.

It's a stupid name for the same reason Bay State Patriots would have been a stupid name . . . even though the Patriots were (and are) the only team in Massachusetts.

In my mind, I thought about "Angeles Golden Chargers"...a name so ridiculous it will likely be in the NHL (somehow) by 2035.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Nah they made it clear in their announcement that they're done with San Diego. They threw 56 years of history out the window in their rush to LA.

Yes, if they had any interest in keeping a fan base in San Diego they wouldn't have scorched the earth as they've done today. They would have picked a name like So Cal Chargers and said they really wanted to stay in San Diego for the fans but that they simply needed a better stadium and that they hope the fans will continue to support them in their new stadium. Instead they severed all ties with San Diego. Blew the whole thing up.

Same goes for Florida Panthers?

I think thats an exception since the actual name of the species is the Florida panther, kind of like the Texas Rangers

No because when the Irish came to Ireland and first came in contact with the leprechaun people, they didn't take their land away and force them to move west. Instead, the two groups learned to assimilate peacefully. However, certain tribes of the leprechaun refused to taint the pure blood and moved north into the forests of Ireland, only to be seen rarely, usually at the same time of a rainbows appearance and occasionally at the factories of Lucky Charms.

I hear you but the argument sounds nit picky, i actually prefer California Chargers. Just because there are other NFL teams in California........ so what.

The Chargers brand is not irreparably damaged because they lost a game to Cleveland, you drama queens.

UPDATE: It's irreparably damaged because they moved to a 27,000-seat soccer stadium on some idle Wednesday night after scores of indications that the league and San Diego were trying to make something work.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

They don't and can't represent the entire state. Not even the only team in the market. Bay Area is Raiders/Niners territory, San Diego hates them forever. Maybe Sacramento will jump on.. Lol nvm they suffer enough with the Kings. My point is: You can't try to claim an entire state when there's 2/3 other teams, you're not even the only team in the city and and PART OF CALIFORNIA HATES YOUR GUTS

I don't see it as claiming an entire state. Having California in the team name doesn't mean "we're the only team in the state", thats a stretch.
