I decided to work up a BFBS-style alt for the new Rangers set. It was tough balancing black, red, royal blue and light blue, and I'm not sure how successful I was, so let me know what you think.

The Blue Jays are next!

The BFBS Rangers balances those colors at least well as the actual Rangers did...

Very cool looking sleeve patch on the early alternates. I didn't know Texas used those.

Thanks! And yeah, that sleeve patch design is excellent.

Tonight we have the Toronto Blue Jays!

It blows my mind that for eight seasons a team called the Blue Jays didn't wear an actual blue jersey, so I've rectified that. Also, I decided to give the current Blue Jays set a black alt as a nod to their previous look. I think it works.

The Nationals/Senators are next, followed by the '90s expansion teams. C&C appreciated!

What happened to the Rockies? Did you do them already, or are you still making tweaks?

Not much you can do with the Rockies since they've used the same colors their entire existence and worn both purple and black alternates.

Having said that, when Coors Field hosted the All-Star Game in 1998, the logo inexplicably added green to the Rockies' purple and black, and the NL team wore green BP jerseys. So how about a one-off green alternate for the 1998 season?

Here's an an alt from a year I missed previously:

INDIANS ROAD ALT (1974)

Indians-1974-Road-Alt.png

All right, let's move onto some weird and wild ideas! Some of these are inspired by teams' tertiary colors, such as the Angels' halo yellow or Giants' old gold. I think you'll see what I mean as you scroll down below.

NOTE: Many of these designs aren't ones I necessarily would have wanted to see on the field, but instead ones I think theoretically could have happened.

 ANGELS HOME ALT (1971-72)

Angels-1971-72-Yellow-Alt.png

BREWERS HOME ALT (1994-99)

Brewers-1994-96-Home-Alt-Gold.png

CARDINALS HOME ALT (1990s-Present)

Cardinals-2000s-Yellow-Alt.png

How about the Cubs in red...

CUBS HOME ALT (1970s-80s)

Cubs-1970s-Home-Alt.png

CUBS HOME ALT (1990s-2000s)

Cubs-2000s-Home-Alt-Vest.png

...and the Dodgers in red?

DODGERS HOME ALT (1990s-2000s)

Dodgers-2000s-Red-Alt.png

GIANTS HOME ALT (2000-Present)

Giants-2003-08-Home-Alt.png

What's one more alt for the Marlins, this one using the bright yellow from their logo? As @the admiral says, the Marlins need more colors, not fewer.

The Padres using the powdery sky blue from their 2004-11 primary and wordmark logo:

PADRES HOME ALT (2004-11)

And a modern Phillies alt with a bit more blue:

PHILLIES HOME ALT (1990s-2000s)

Phillies-1990s-Alt.png

ROYALS HOME ALT (1969-72)

Royals-1969-72-Gold-Alt.png

In 2015 the Twins (unnecessarily) injected Kasota gold into their identity, so why not commit to it with a gold alt?

TWINS HOME ALT (2015-Present)

Twins-2019-Present-Home-Alt.png

And lastly (for now), when my White Sox adopted a dramatic redesign at the end of the 1990 season, they boasted black and silver as their new colors. I hope I did enough to make this one distinct enough from their road jersey.

WHITE SOX HOME ALT (1990-Present)

White-Sox-1990s-Home-Alt-w-plain-white-p

That's all for now! Let me know what works and what doesn't. If anyone has any requests or ideas for alts I haven't already thought of, don't hesitate to ask and I'll happily mock-up your suggestions.

Great post!

Fantastic designs overall, but I specially like both designs for the Marlins, and the Angels yellow top. They are really colourful ideas.

Thanks, guys!

Today we move on to a slightly different idea. What if a few other MLB teams got in on the monochrome action in the '70s? Well, wonder no longer:

The 1998 All Star logo added green because green was always included in the Coors Field logo. Coors Field ushers wore forest green jackets in the 90s (and maybe still do).

For fans that have been to many games at Coors, green jerseys would not be weird (especially in a stadium anniversary year like 2020 (theoretically) or 2025.  Your concept looks great.

@coco1997 the powder blue “shampoo” Padres uni and that Pink Marlins unis are too solid! Post your portfolio at Nike, fix some of that mediocrity that company churning out.

Thank you!

Today we start a new leg of this project, an alternate history in which powder blue road uniforms came and never went away, starting in the mid '60s, when the White Sox kicked off the trend in 1964. I'll be doing alphabetically with multiple teams in each post, so today we have the Diamondbacks and Braves:

Good to see some love for the powder blue!

Great ideas overall, but I specially like the D'Backs teal uniform. I'd love to see them going for that route if they end up jumping in the powder blue bandwagon.
