Didn't they have "Fleet Center" on the end line when the arena first opened?

That’s true! Hard to find dated pics but this would have had to have been 2000 give or take a few years. The Celtics were originators of this.

Always thought "Madison Square Garden" in the deco-ish font outside the door (as opposed to the ugly corporate logo) would have looked better on the Knicks' baselines than the team name, which is already at center court. That way, you can keep the rest of the court unadorned and have New York's court be simple and special.

That Hawks-Nets game was gorgeous aesthetically with the Hawks matching their red unis with red accessories, and all that contrasting harmoniously off the Nets' grayscale court and their light grey unis that are their best.

I love when the Nets play at home in gray against a team wearing a nonwhite jersey. It’s almost always gorgeous!

Originators of what exactly? Having the arena name/wordmark in the corner along the baseline? I want to say that’s false, I’d have to dig some, but I believe the Bucks did it when the Bradley Center opened? Also, I think the Sixers did it in 1996?

The Bradley Center wasn't a naming-rights deal, though, so the FleetCenter would have been the first place with some sort of sponsorship on the baseline if they had that as soon as it opened in 1995. I'll have to check the NBA Courts And English As A Second Language thread to know for sure.

I don't know, if I was a sponsor, I would even want my ad along the base and end lines like the one in OKC pic. Considering the camera angle and the position of the ad, you can't really make out the sponsor(s) all that well. Maybe they could have done it in similar way to sponsors on rugby pitches or what the Raptors once did along the endline.

It’s probably the most shown area during a game. If anything even with the awkward angle it’s probably what the sponsors pay the most for.

May be so, but I wonder if I would truly be getting what I paid for depending on the arena. Let's revisit that OKC court again. I can make out "Riverwind Casino"  and the "OU Health" tarps much better than "Love's" or the "paycom". I think the real issue here is more the camera position than the ad placement.

OKC has always had the most plain jane courts except the first year. Adding floor advertisements makes it even more an eye sore.

Rockets City edition court actually looks nice and clean. Impressive.

(I'll search for better pics) but this video will do.

It does look nice but it isn't look Rockets AT ALL. In fact, it was worsened by the fact that it was against the Kings, of all teams, who have used very similar colors before in their history and over the course of the past few seasons. Typically it would have been the Kings in light blue and red against the Rockets in black. Took me a moment to realize it was in fact the opposite tonight.

Does anyone know why the Lakers wear the gold uniforms nonstop?

Because the NBA and Nike decided to throw out the uniform rules and dictate which uniforms each team wears and when.  That means wearing yellow a lot.

With the Lakers, two mistakes have been made with their jerseys.  The first is adding black to the purple jersey and the second is not wearing them enough.  I would say the previous versions of the purple jersey with the yellow was as iconic as the yellow homes until Nike screwed it up.  That needs to be fixed.

You're making a movie about a fictional pro basketball team, and your protagonist is playing a key game in Dallas. What does the opponent look like?

Think Dallas Knights from "Any Given Sunday," only less garish.

Without a doubt, this Dallas uniform is the biggest wtf out of all the new alternates. Absolutely no rhyme or reason, no local tie in, no nod to a throwback. Nothing. "Hey, lets make a silver and gold uniform and put Dallas on it"

"Love it. Absolutely love the idea"

"But what about fans? What will they think?"

"Why would a wind machine think? let a lone care about a uniform? Grow up."
