I've hated the trend the past 5 years or so if teams with outlined team names with 1 color numbers or the opposite. It’s nice to see indeed. I’ve despised this trend in recent years as well. It’s why I have a bit of a love/hate (mostly love) relationship with some of Portland’s sets.

Instead I would liken it to what's happening in the world of corporate design now: stripped down design trying to act as a throwback. The decisions they went with meant we ended up with something way too bland. The second row is the truth and how they should've looked like. One of the best sets in the league with that look. Sweet, especially the purple one. What a shame they didn't go this route. They're also the closest to the originals without being a copy. Other than that, everything's been already said by others about the actual changes: too little purple, no pinstripes on the shorts (I don't care that's how it was on the originals, it looks better on both), too much white on the teal uni... Are they worse than the previous ones? Dunno. The way the stripes were placed on one side was overthought and forced and never really worked for me. I liked them more while they still had the striped collar, but then they got rid of it. Also not excited about the new lackluster waist logos. What comes to the court, why use the same hornet shape three times? I guess it was a way to add purple, now that it has been removed from the keys. And while adding honeycomb to the keys is nice and resembles the 90s court in a good way, having two different honeycomb patterns on the floor at the same time is too much, and I prefer the wood pattern to this new one. I also see they removed the pattern from inside the 3-point areas to not have too much pattern clash and have the patterned keys pop.

Chawls
I feel like they’re an upgrade! Double pinstripes and matching wordmark and numbers are a definite plus. I was not a fan of the plain purple numbers at all. I’ll give them a solid B overall. Quote If you hadn't noticed, Chawls loves his wrestling, whether it be real life or sim. CitizenTino
It appears I got some bad info on the Cavs rolling out a new statement jersey. They’re calling this the official statement jersey for 2020-21, and the only change is the swoosh being replaced by the Jumpman, which everybody across the league is doing. Sigh. CitizenTino
To be fair, I have to give the Cavs some credit for steering into the stupidity of the league making every club wear a uniform with the logo of a former player who, for many franchises, was their biggest rival. Two thoughts ... 1) I feel very much the same about MJ and the Jazz (THAT MOTHERF****R PUSHED OFF!!!!!) 2) I thought the Cavs were getting a new statement jersey? This is slightly disappointing. I thought they were, too. That’s what I had heard from someone close to the team. Not sure if that person passed along bad info to me, or if the team made a last-minute decision to hold off a year, but I’m sorry for sharing something that turned out to be false. I could understand wanting to hold back on the release because who knows what will happen with the pandemic, but then again, other teams like Atlanta and Charlotte are rolling out whole new sets. UnclearInitial
I can’t believe that no one of the Cavs, Pistons, Knicks, Pacers, Jazz, Suns or Trail Blazers brought up that the Jordan logo is not something fans want on team apparel. Unless Nike is making all the decisions now and the NBA didn’t have a say.
FinsUp1214
The only way I’m ever buying Air Jordan branded Jazz merch is if the silhouette is changed to him doing this: Statement uniform? Yeah, okay, we’ll make a statement!

FiddySicks
Wow. I’m actually surprised at how much I dislike those Hornets jerseys. All of the elements people have been wanting are basically there. But the execution? Yikes. pepis21
Jumpman on every statement uniform is the stupid decision. It works for Bulls (should have Jumpman on all uniforms) and Hornets (since Jordan is an owner) and maybe Wizards (but majority of us wants to forget MJ in DC), but rest teams should have swoosh espiecially those which were humiliated by MJ. projectjohn
This was posted in the Pistons mailbag article on their website today: While I'm relieved to hear there are no plans to change their traditional home and road jerseys, I am curious as to what "new design elements" are being introduced. JTernup
I’m somewhat surprised by the dislike for Jordan on the statement jerseys. I personally see Air Jordan brand as it’s own thing that has transcended MJ himself. I suppose being young enough to never see prime Jordan, being a fan of a team that didn’t face the disappointment he caused other teams, and being into sneakers and streetwear probably contribute to that perspective though. I wonder if the casual fan will see it more like I do or like some of these comments?
