NBA Changes 2020/21

The big orange stripe and thin white stripe being the center of attention just makes it look way too similar to the Clippers throwbacks. they should have figured something out with the colors or stripe size idk

I’m speaking for myself, I don’t think there’s a single city jersey I don’t like (Boston’s is super lame) and I am very pleased with the city uniforms this year. Seems like they’re starting to get it! (Except Boston)

Not at all...but you KNOW someone else would have a problem with it.

Now sure what to think of the new Thunder edition. It's supposed to honor State Pride. I can imagine what the earned will look like. The earned can be base don either the City or Statement.

Anyway here's the ones still missing and I'll take a stab at it:

Denver: Yellow Rocky Mountain Fauxback of previous sets

Utah: White/White Blue honoring Utah winter

Minnesota: White version of previous set

Houston: Carolina Blue honoring the uniforms of spacemen

Memphis: None again as Classic edition replaces it

Cleveland: Yellow another inspired fauxback set

Indiana: Silver Honoring Market Square Arena

So far this year we have

OKC: Blue/Black/Orange honoring the State Pride of Oklahoma

Portland: Black honoring Oregon mountain ranges

Lakers: White Fauxback honoring Elgin Baylor

Clippers: Black Version of "Straight Outta Compton" wanting LA to embrace the Clippers as the city's team

Sacramento: Black honoring city nickname

Golden State: Navy fauxback honoring 1997-2010 set saying "Oakland"

Phoenix: Black honoring the Valley of Arizona with a touch of throwback 1994-2000 black alternate thrown in

Dallas: White honoring 10th anniversary of title

San Antone: Black Honoring 90's logo and warm up jackets and the Hemisphere Arena

New Orleans: White/Blue/Red honoring city flag and Willie Nelson song "City of New Orleans"

Chicago: Black honoring building details of Chicago's buildings/theaters of the 1930's

Detroit: Blue this time honoring the Blue Collar ethic of Detroit

Milwaukee: Blue honoring team's first sponsor Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer

Toronto: Black similar to last year's minus the pinstripes

New York: Black honoring New York's nightlife

Brooklyn: Black honoring a local Brooklyn street artist who's work is on Brooklyn Subways

Boston: White honoring the banners in Boston Garden

Philadelphia: Black honoring the Philadelphia neighborhoods and suburbs

Miami: Crockett Blue/Pink Miami Vice and flamingo inspired

Orlando: White version of last year's set honoring the orange groves of Florida

Charlotte:Teal honoring first US mint branch which was in Charlotte

Atlanta: Black honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Washington Gray: Honoring new President Joe Biden

Some predictions on the earned colors:

Lakers: Royal Blue

Portland: White

Houston: Red

OKC: White

Denver: Maroon

Utah: Green

Clippers: Red

Dallas: Slate Gray

Milwaukee: Kelly Green

Orlando: Silver

Miami: White

Indiana: Royal Blue

Toronto: Purple

Boston: Green

Philadelphia: White

That story basically boils down to “it’s modern because...Oklahoma is...doing modern cool stuff.” Huh? What kind of a stretch is that?

Also I really don’t know why, but I’m getting gas station branding vibes from it. Maybe it’s because it’s also got NASCAR vibes and I’ve just blended the two vibes together over time, but yeah.

EDIT - Okay, not the same colors but this is what I’m getting at:

Thunder is pretty close to perfect. If they had a different font and changed the black to brown it would be beautiful.

The color scheme is staying sunset. Most likely a black base uniform with sunset trim.

Jazz teaser "Dark Mode" so it probably would be black.

 It's brown not black.

They're honoring their uniforms from past.

In 2018 Biden wasn't even a candidate.

I think the championship banner jersey is a great concept for a franchise like Boston.

I think OKC looks pretty good with the NASCAR style. It's a totally different aesthetic to the Braves jerseys.

I'll need to see Miami's on court, but I don't mind it. If it looks dull it'll look garbage. A design like that really needs to be bright. It'll probably be popular as a replica.

In really stupid news, the Nuggets arena has been renamed to Ball Arena and the Suns arena is now PHX Arena. Yes that's right, Ball Arena and PHX Arena.

The Sunoco connection is spot on, it really emulates that.

For me, it's because of the Love's sponsor patch. Combine that with the bright colors and italicized fonts and it screams stock car design. I honestly have a hard time believing that the connection to racing was unintentional here.

A connection to racing would be strange, considering that the nearest tracks are Texas and Kansas and an Oklahoman has never won a Cup Series race. But I definitely see what you (and others) are talking about regarding its resemblance to stock car design.

Better than “Talking Stick Resort Arena.” Denver could have done better though, not the greatest follow-up, behind “Pepsi Center.”

Ball Arena is named after the canning jars and I can't possibly imagine a reason a canning car company needs to increase its brand awareness.

Thankfully PHX Arena is just a temporary name between sponsors. But, isn't Ball a canning company? 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
