Tampa Bay Buccaneers Unveil New Uniforms

I used to think the Bucs bright shade of orange and their pewter color would make a HORRIBLE combination, but I’ve seen a few examples that looked surprisingly good.

If they absolutely insist on resurrecting Bucco Bruce, I hope they have the sense enough to pair it with pewter, in the very least. I’m in the begging for mercy/bargaining for the life of my fandom stage with the Bucs by now and losing both the flag AND the pewter color simultaneously would be about the cruelest and absolute MOST :censored:ty Bucs thing they could ever do to my mental state.

It's the Bucs, so there's essentially a 100% chance that they'll go Full Bucs on you.

So knowing the demand for the Super Bowl set or the Bucco Bruce set, that means we'll probably end up getting what neither camp wanted; a mainly pewter set with red and orange as secondary colors and a half-assed mishmash of the Bruce logo and the flag logo as the new primary. Probably keeps the alarm clock numbers, too, just for extra salt in the wound. 😛

You mean like this?

I think the flag is part of the logo, because you need the sword to go with it as well.

But, again, you lose the sword.

The full logo is the flag and the sword and the skull and crossbones...not the just the latter two.

Actually, you don’t need the sword, because there are two of them under the skull. 🙂

“A logo of a flag... on a flag”

“A skull and crossed swords... being held up by another sword”

Both of those descriptions are so silly that I’m legitimately surprised they’re not satirical. 😂

I disagree. Carolina looks solid and I love how they've gone all of this time and kept their identity (mostly) unchanged. The Panthers should be a case study of how to build a consistent brand in the modern era.

Just look at their identity and how solid it's remained in comparison to their expansion cousins, the Jaguars. One team committed to their look and has an established brand. The other keeps searching for the right look despite nailing it on their first go.

This is the lesson.  Blue and black is a tough look to make work, and they probably wouldn't have even had those colors except they were founded around the time of the Orlando Magic's prominence, but they kept the look, they own that corner and they have a pretty good brand because of it

I would swap the pewter and red on the shoulders, then maybe the red flag on the helmet wouldn't be so out of place?

 This.

I love creamsicle unis, but I prefer them with red accents rather than pewter. And I hope in a white helmet (for throwbacks), but I think the red flag on it is way better than the orange one.

Why would a flag be flying from a sword?  Wouldn't they need the sword for battle?  Shouldn't the flag be on a flag pole, or attached to a mast?

This might be unpopular but I have no idea why you'd go back to the creamsicle colours when pewter and red with orange in the trim is one of the best colour combinations in the league. The Bucs current unis are littered with mistakes, but the colours are not one of them.

Save the creamsicle set for throwbacks. It'd get tired very quickly if used week in week out, IMO.

This is why I believe the helmets will be white.

I hate the new Buccaneers logo. Pewter was boring in 97, even more boring now.

I agree with this, however the pewter looks bad on the flat Nike material.  If they're insistent in keeping with the same fabrics, it might not be the best option - which is a shame.

It's a difficult issue, because pewter is a great helmet colour, and I think it's difficult to get a set working which is heavy on red and pewter but with a white helmet. You'd need the home set to have white pants, at the very least to make it work.

If you're going to have pewter has a helmet color the other colors need to be drab and dull to match it.

A white helmet would be a perfectly reasonable solution . . . and there's already a prototype from the pre-SB rebrand to show what it would look like (see top right).

A red jersey similar to the SB-era jersey with that helmet and white pants would look great  . . . and leave the option of the creamsicles as a throwback.  Win win!
