The lid is off on all the corruption that taints just about every major program and every decision that the schools or the NCAA make is only about money, money, and more money. We'll have three 16+ team super-conferences sooner rather than later, killing much of the regional flair and traditional rivalries that make college sports unique and showing the door to any school that doesn't bring money to the table in the process. Pretty soon the smaller schools are going to have to consider forming their own sanctioning body to keep the true spirit of college sports alive because the NCAA will only get worse in it's excess from here

~Bear
I actually like the Bucs logo without the swords. It looks a lot more concise that way.

You just made me realize how low-key strange it is that the Buccaneers logo features crossed swords, on a flag being carried by a sword. It's totally unnecessary, and your solution makes so much more sense. I really can't believe that I've never thought about that before.

They don't call it the Skull and Swords, they call it the Skull and Crossbones.

Maybe it was the duplicated swords that was cluttering the look. Hmm. Design Hovie Studios
FiddySicks
I seem to remember there being a story about them not using the crossbones due to some copyright issue? It was close to twenty years ago when I heard that, though. On 11/19/2012 at 7:23 PM, oldschoolvikings said: She’s still half convinced “Chris Creamer” is a porn site.) Old School Fool
The Buccaneers logo is apparently based on the one used by Calico Jack who was a pirate in the 18th century. So that's why there's swords instead of bones. I actually just looked into pirate flags and you would be surprised by how different they were than people think. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jolly_Roger

Maybe the bucs should base there design on this one, Excellent!
Chromatic
I prefer the swords to bones because a skull and crossbones makes me think of poison before pirates.

Orlando City FC Florida Panthers Cincinnati Bengals Auburn Tigers Clemson Tigers BYU Cougars Eastern Illinois Panthers Jackson State Tigers LSU Tigers Penn State Nittany Lions Princeton Tigers Yes most big cat nicknamed teams, professional and/or collegiate, will mainly utilize imagery depicting teeth. Initially, I was trying to prove a point by saying it’s dumb to remove something from a logo just because another team has it, but in case another team wants to be a-holes about the situation, it’s always a good idea to have backup plans. Also, just because you want it to happen, doesn’t mean it will aka even though the Buccaneers logo is a pirate flag, it doesn’t need crossbones to get the point across. The swords serve their purpose well at doing so. Tampa Bay would be wise to keep them.

hawk36
Watching the XFL this weekend and it hit me that if you changed LA's black to pewter, it's the Tampa Bay colors. Makes me think that more orange could actually work (was skeptical before). Design Hovie Studios

LAWeaver
I think for a new logo, a nice in-between of the current and the Super Bowl flags would be great, like these: (Shameless plug from about four years ago): I also like this one from @mcrosby @loganaweaver - Twitter / @loganaweaver - Instagram / Nike Vapor Untouchable Football Template / Logan's Logos

It's a color Nike can keep consistent, looks mostly the same in any lighting and also resembles a cannon and cannon ball ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I agree that would be an awesome color for the Bucs.
