I have to disagree, because while the relatively small number of Bucs fans on these boards certainly aren't representative of a large sample, I can't imagine that their affection for the orange in the scheme is the minority.  I think the team simply didn't want it for some reason.  Maybe it'll be featured prominently in the rumored pewter alt set.

The more I think about my previous thought that maybe Nike talked them out of it because of the extra size/weight of the numbers, I don't think that's the case, because they could have worked it in everywhere else if they wanted to, but chose not to.  It's 100% on the team.

I'm a member of one of the more prominent unofficial Bucs message boards, and based on the new uniform thread there, orange is definitely embraced.  I've mentioned in this thread that there isn't much of a demand to go back to the Bucco Bruce/creamsicle era full-time, but after reading that thread, I think I may have to stand corrected.  As much as I wouldn't want to see it, it seems like people are more willing to get rid of pewter than orange (I don't want either to go).

But still...not a full representative sample.

Which board is that ?

The Buccaneers new uniforms are a huge missed opportunity. What a mistake. Wow. What a snore fest.

A dated uniform design which features a boring main color w/a uniform manufacturer who somehow manages to make that color look even more boring.

Then they removed the one slight feature color that made it stand out just a little bit (orange).

It was that simple. Super easy. Barely an inconvenience. But of course they totally screwed it up with a rehash of some 1990's uniforms that IMO were among the (if not the) dullest in NFL history.

Why did I expect anything different from one of the most feckless franchises in NFL history? Temporary insanity. Has to be.

Personally I think the Creamsicles were bad. The orange was just too much. As a once-a-year throwback its great because you don't overload but watching that every week would hurt my eyes. The Sapp-Dunn-Alstott-Barber-Rice (wow they had some good players) era uniforms were such a relief when they debuted. They had a unique color scheme that just sparkled in the sunlight and really matched the franchise aesthetic.

It's probably an over-correction to drop the orange but all-in-all this will be pretty good.

I for one did not want a return the the throwbacks.  Teams should always move forward an evolve, even if its a modification of something from the past.

I disagree. Sometimes what was worn forty years ago is the best choice. The "always forward, never back" mentality only limits teams' options and forces unnecessary tweaks to identities that didn't need them.

Thanks for the reply Captain Obvious. I'll also add that I'm not forcing my opinion on anyone. I never said anyone had to agree. I made my statement in a forum which is inherently meant for feedback and moved on. Next time do us both a favor and keep scrolling past my comments troll.

Starting to think Grimlock wants everyone to ignore him just so he can call them names.

I respect your opinion and also politely/respectfully disagree with it.

Thank you for that. I wish everyone in the world would adopt this as their personal worldview...maybe there'd be a lot less rancor and disharmony in society.

I honestly can't decide between the Bucco Bruce look and the Super Bowl Era look. But the mockup is neither of the two looks. Sure, it is an update of the Super Bowl set but it's stripped of a very important aspect. Also, they probably have decided to keep the ridiculously large helmet logo. Therefore, it is an unnecessary update of that set.

I’d rather have a stripped down pewter era set than an updated Bucco Bruce era set any day of the week.

I could be wrong never having been near the area but, in my world, the orange/red Bucco look screams sunny, warm, Tampa... perfect. The red/pewter could be anywhere... fine but generic.

Gasparilla is very red, black, and brown heavy. It fits the bucs more than the creamsicle. I don’t want to see it go completely but it should be fit into the red pewter and black like the super bowl set

This seems an unreasonable overreaction to what @GrimlockAutobot posted.  He wasn't belittling anyone, wasn't negative about anybody, just stating his affirmative opinion in an emphatic fashion.

I'd much rather the creamsicles be brought back. Admittedly, I've never seen either set in person, so I may not have an accurate idea of what they actually look like, but looking at pictures, the creamsicles are bright, bold, and sunny, perfect for Florida. The Super Bowl set, to me, looks dull in comparison. While the red and pewter may be more representative of an actual buccaneer, I feel like the creamsicles are more representative of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While the team saw more success in the Super Bowl set (obviously) I think that Bucco Bruce and the creamsicles are what people think of when they think of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I may be way off, but I agree with those that want the return of the creamsicles.
