I'm about to be absolutely shameless and use my own yet-unposted concept as an argument here, but;

As much as I love the Bucco uniforms, I disagree that you can't mix orange and pewter at all; this concept is just one example of how a red/creamsicle/pewter/white color scheme could work I've made (obviously with McCarthy's updated Bucco Bruce logo, since I'm a sucker for it).

Pewter works great with the Bucs' red and orange if it's not liberally used; let red and creamsicle have more room to breathe and I do think it has it's place as a secondary color.

The problem is that there’s no hierarchy to the color. It doesn’t work when there are equal parts pewter, red, and orange. It’s too chaotic. you need to choose a maximum of two colors to be the star(s) of the show, maybe one to be a supporting actor, and any others should be no more than background dancers.

Even if the current design isn’t your cup of tea, the color hierarchy is one thing it gets right, even better than the Super Bowl uniforms in some ways. One look at those uniforms, and you can tell they’re a pewter and red team, orange is the supporting actor, and black and silver are the background dancers (though I don’t think they need two).

I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry

Florida officially wins the award for most boring NFL uniforms. Pretty sad when the most unique jerseys in the state are the Jaguars. At least they have striping/slashes.

I'd amend this to "most disappointingly boring NFL uniforms." SO much potential, and yet they still miss the mark (see: Bucs "update" with no orange whatsoever, Jags refusing to use gold at all/making teal their primary color, Miami inexplicably not going to their throwbacks full time...)

Needs orange.

I'm really disappointed there hasn't been a "needs stripes" post.

Some of you old timers let me down.

I think there are a lot of ways that the basic description provided at Uniwatch could be true, but;

A. There are a lot of fonts that could be called "block" but would still be one of a kind, and...

B. There are any number of ways a small but interesting amount of orange could be incorporated in ways that might not be that noticeable at first but would make a huge difference.

Welp. I just ordered a Tom Brady jersey sight unseen. Was going to go with the alt so it was really sight unseen, but the idea of a pewter alt scared me off. We’ll see how huge of a mistake this ends up being.

Best of luck with that. Wonder if they have a refund policy?

But isn't that the crux of the problem?  People want orange to be a bigger part.

Out of curiosity, has anyone done a concept with their current template with orange on shoulders instead of pewter?  Similar to the old Titans shoulder shapes?

I tried suggesting the two-tone jersey to focus more on orange and no one was having it ha!

This is far and away my favorite of the mock-ups, and would be possibly be the best look in the league. The white helmet allowing for the throwbacks secures it.spacer.png

It’s a damn shame it’ll never happen.

That XXXL helmet logo though.  Seriously, that flag is big enough for an actual matador to use at the bullfights in Spain!  Warren Sapp and Brad Johnson, can’t you two talk some damn sense into management on that one?

I don't think Warren Sapp would be of much help.

Outside of the Creamsicle Crew, do people really want orange to be a bigger part than it currently is, or do they just want orange to be *a* part of the new uniform (and are reacting negatively to the rumor that there isn’t any), because those are two very different problems.

I don’t have issues with the color hierarchy of the current look, and I don’t think it’s high on most persons’ list of dislikes. I think the orange has the same, if not more presence now than it did on the Super Bowl uniforms, and it works very well as an accent color that makes the look more distinctive, just as it did on the previous set. Maybe you could flip the roles of orange and red in the hierarchy, but every pewter idea I’ve seen thus far has confirmed that red appears to be a better co-star than orange.

Adding a bunch of orange to a uniform that’s already dominated by pewter and red is a difficult task to execute. I haven’t seen a successful attempt yet, but I think your idea of an orange yoke stripe has promise, maybe paired with socks like what you have on your concept above.
