OLDE TOWNE GREENS FC

Boston's Olde Towne Greens were one of the founding clubs in the NAPL, originally sponsored by Arsenal, the club has since eschewed a single-sponsor model and has been successful despite receiving only minimal EPL support.  The club prides itself on being an international squad, with strong ties to the communities which have helped to build the city of Boston.  You can see this in the crest of the team, which depicts a soccer pitch in which the green of the field is also the green of the flags of Ireland (green, white, orange), Italy (green, white & red) and Portugal (green, gold & burgundy).  

 

 

The kits for OTG have also been used to pay tribute to the city's ethnic diversity.  The home kit is almost always a green kit designed to parallel that of the Republic of Ireland, with orange highlights as the main secondary feature.  The road kit regularly rotates between white, maroon (Portugal) and bright blue (Italy). For 2020, the Azzuri look is in, with a kit that resembles that of the Italian national squad in bright "Azzuri" blue.  Both home and away kits in 2020 feature sublimated tonal stripes on the jerseys along with the iconic ADIDAS stripes on sleeves, shorts and socks.

I love FC Gasparilla's look; they'd beat the Buccaneers at their own game! I'd suggest that you choose one shade of black for the logo, though, and maybe align the flag stripes with the crossbones.

 

The Georgetown Cherries also are really classy. I think the logo's flag stripes could be burgundy though.

 

Not feeling the font on Old Towne. The distressed texture is odd and really doesn't fit with the monogram (which is a bit overly plain.) That said the idea for the jerseys is fun.

Finishing off this project, here are the 3 remaining eastern region teams: New Jersey, New York & Philly.

 

NJ Pallisades FC

Stadium: Red Bull Arena

Sponsor: Herbalife

Colors: Kelly Green, Orange, Sky Blue, Navy

EPL Affiliate: None

 

Pallisades FC has made a lot of hay as "New Jersey's Team", differentiating itself from the many NYC teams which actually play in the Garden State.  Their name evokes one of the state's most well-known landmarks, cliffs which overlook NYC and the Atlantic.  The logo depicts these cliffs in a series of 3 stripes, blue for the ocean, green for the pine barrens and as a symbol of the garden state, and orange cliffs as the final element of the Pallisades reference. A stylized NJ caps the shield. 

 

The home kit recreates the 3-stripe logo design through blue, green and orange hoops, paired with orange piping on the jersey, green shorts, and blue socks (the same order visually as the stripes and shield.   The away kit has a sky blue jersey and orange shorts & socks.  The jersey features sublimated green, orange and white striping on the flanks.

GOTHAM FC

Despite a strong relationship with one of London's premier teams, Arsenal, the identity of New York's premier club has little to do with their EPL partner and all to do with an early affiliation with DC Comics (and their film division in recent years).  From the onset, DC, their parent company, Warner Bros, and the NAPL created an identity for the NYC franchise which lives and breathes the connection between the city and the fictional home to Batman, one of DC's flagship characters.  Gotham FC has worn a bat on its logo, and black as its primary color, since its inception.  The crest depicts a bat flying above a split black-white shield with copper green piping (copper green being the oxidized color of the Statue of Liberty).  The art deco lettering of GFC and NYC is also evident in the crest, and derives both from the architectural backdrop of the Big Apple and the style of the Batman animated series which preceded the highly-successful Chris Nolan films. 

 

 

(Note:  Yes, I see the weird line through the bat. Not sure where that comes from because it does not show up on my drawing program, COREL).

 

The traditional home Kit of Gotham FC is a half-half jersey of white and black with black shorts and socks.  The amount of green piping varies year to year, but this basic design has remain largely unchanged for over 25 years.  The away kit has varied more, but this year's Copper Green kit has been one of the more common themes throughout the years.

FRANKLIN TOWN FC

Stadium: Franklin Field

Colors: Navy & white

EPL Affiliate: Tottenham

 

Philadelphia's NAPL franchise is an homage to the founding fathers, and in particular Pennsylvania's own Dr. Benjamin Franklin.  The crest depicts two PA icons, the Liberty Bell and the keystone.  The team colors come from their longstanding partnership with Tottenham Hotspur.  

 

 

The Franklin Town uniforms tend to lean towards the traditional (perhaps there is a bit of Penn State tradition to go along with the Tottenham tradition), with the home kit usually white and navy, while the away kit also tends to stick to a single color, in 2020 that color is a slate grey.

So many great designs here! Franklin Town makes good use of the bell logo from the Philadelphia Bell of the World Football League; it's too bad such a good logo is attached to a defunct team and so isn't used any more. I think it looks even better with a soccer ball than it did with a football. One point about that logo: I think it would look better if the keystones were smaller, so that they didn't reach the edges of the banner.

Disappointed because I was expecting West Ham to get one of the final teams, but I definitely like Gotham.
