kw11333 134 Posted October 6, 2020 Sens marketing team seems to know what they are doing. Sadly this means that Eugene Melnyk will likely fire them
Kramerica Industries 2,093 Posted October 6, 2020 Given that the arm striping pattern for the white sweater is two red stripes flanking a black one, there's zero reason whatsoever why they couldn't replicate that for the hem striping. That's disappointing and leaves that sweater feeling empty.

Sodboy13 5,796 Posted October 6, 2020 I'm glad the numbers are in the stripes. Looks like a slightly different numeral font than the original, based on the 2. It's an upgrade by default, but given everything that's come through the concept mills over the past 13 years, "almost as good as what you had in 1992" really ain't much.

I agree, and I also think having a different look on the hem makes these more interesting than if the same pattern was used everywhere. I like having a little variety as long as the aesthetics work.
Morgan33 4,129 Posted October 7, 2020 Thank god they didn't make the =O= the primary. The black jersey looks astounding in spite of the half-assed job they did on the logo.
the admiral 29,161 Posted October 7, 2020 Better, but not good enough. But they got Alex Trebek to do their draft announcement, which was cool. Thought he was a Habs fan, though.

I was only thinking in a vacuum. In that case, a black stripe of equal height would've also worked. Doesn't take away my feeling of it being empty.

Seems the O is entirely gone from the branding; would've thought they'd keep it around in some form as a pant logo or something. I'd imagine we'll eventually see the =O= brought back as a third jersey, which will appease fans like me who wanted it to become the full time look. I'm interested to hear the logic behind getting rid of the black sleeves on the aways. My cynical mind would say that they just want to give people who are still clinging to their pre-Edge jerseys incentive to buy the new ones. I wonder how they'll handle the centre ice design. In the past we saw both a smaller version of the logo & a larger one with the wings cut off by the circle.

It makes the aways, other than the back number(s) and name, a white version of the homes.
spartacat_12 1,515 Posted October 7, 2020 But that was still the case with the inaugural set. The torso & upper arms were the only part of the jersey that changed colours. The Red Wings do it and Seattle's set will be doing the same. Changing the design defeats the purpose of reverting to an old set. It'd be like if Calgary had decided to remove the red shoulder yoke from their away jersey.
njdevs7 912 Posted October 7, 2020 I still think they should have went with the originals. But now seeing the full kit, these are better than I expected. The black is really crisp. The away is clean and simple. It doesnt look TOO much like the Devils (no blak shoulders, no red numbers). And the numbers in the stripes is a nice, unique touch that not many teams have.
Chromatic 2,716 Posted October 7, 2020 Not only is it an improvement for the Sens, but its an improvement for the league as well. Since yesterday we now have two fewer teams wearing red with black trim. Its a good scheme, but variety is the spice of life. Its the same reason I'm a fan of Edmonton wearing orange. I don't like the idea of half the Canadian teams wearing blue and the other half red.
nash61 1,822 Posted October 7, 2020 While somewhat of an improvement, this is a missed opportunity for the Sens. If you're going to alter the sleeves on the whites, then give us a proper inverse and use the white stripe version. I know jerseys devoid of white (San Jose, Edmonton, Tampa) are hot right now, but this would have been a much better option. I also stumbled across what appears to be a knockoff, but the bolder lines on the logo make for a better primary than their "updated" version. But we all know they should have gone for the 2007 updated logo...

The black numbers on the sleeve & the white numbers on the back is the one true way.

My guess is that had they kept the black cuffs, it would have clashed with the single red hem stripe. It would have made it look really out of place.

The cropped version butchers the logo IMO and doesn't do it any favours.
