Discrim 1,257 Posted November 28, 2020 The pertinent question few seem to be asking of these "outbreaks" is whether they merely have some trace of the virus or the actual disease (I suspect the former, given what I've heard regarding the possibility that the virus tests being used are a few hairs too sensitive and can't distinguish between active and dead strains of the virus). In all honesty, the response to Covid-19 has baffled me, given my recollection of SARS, bird flu, and swine flu-people were treated like they had actual braincells with regards to those diseases. The approach was a hell of a lot more like what Sweden's been doing than what nearly everyone else's been doing, which I suspect has been a mass attempt to appear to be doing "something," no matter if the cure might be worse than the disease. I mean, who the hell quarantines healthy people? I wonder if any of the players who tested positive showed any symptoms. I know if I was a player who tested positive, but I was asymptomatic and further testing is negative but I have to sit out anyway, I'd feel cheated.

Well, Sweden's death rate has been three times higher than other countries and hasn't been deemed a success by very many folks. Just because you don't have symptoms doesn't mean you're less contagious. You can still pass it along to other people who can spread it to other people and still get sick. As for the NFL, it seems their policies in general are always fairly reactive and public relations oriented. Concussions, race, etc. all are only summarily dealt with when the PR hit becomes too much to ignore.
oldschoolvikings 17,356 Posted November 28, 2020 Viking fans are still pretty much united over their hatred of Joe Buck based on the Randy Moss "mooning" incident. It was a pretty great moment for Vikings fans ruined by Buck turning into a pent up granny with the vapors and blowing the entire thing out of proportion. He's a dork.

I think the doctors knew from the outset that we were doomed and there was nothing we could do in the absence of a vaccine but try not to die in large numbers and make people feel like they were Helping.

By other countries, they've usually meant some of their Scandinavian neighbors, given that places like Belgium and Italy have had far higher death rates. [MOD EDIT: Venturing into political territory.] In any event, I might keep an eye on the Ravens' situation, if only to see whether any of their positive cases actually needs to be hospitalized (as you might have guessed, I'm skeptical that lockdowns, social distancing, et al, were even necessary.) Red Wolf 5,500 Posted November 28, 2020 The Broncos were going to lose anyway. Not like they're going to get two losses. Just run the wishbone or something. Or forfeit. Honestly. Who cares?
