Hoping for black tops and pants with blue pinstripes.  Go full mid-'90s Bulls on us.

I was just thinking about this exact idea for the Mets. I honestly think it could turn out pretty nice.

As for black returning in general, I can’t lie the nostalgia has grown for me over the past year as the hype for them has mounted. I was glad they left the black when they did, but now I’m glad to see it return as an occasional alternate. The time feels right, in my opinion. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t spill onto the other jerseys, as those are best left without any black accents.

I'm sure its been said before, but I don't mind if they wear them max 10-15 times a year. Anything more than that is diverting too far from the Mets visual identity IMO. With the Nike Influenced doomsday (probably) on the horizon I can see this getting out of hand quick. I'm praying that the MLB doesn't turn into an NBA-esq disaster.

The Marlins won the 2003 World Series in black alternates and yet I have no desire to bring them back in any regular or semi-regular capacity. A throwback weekend commemorating the championship, sure.

Probably because they wear black 99.9% of the time and don’t want another black jersey

As long as the black trim never comes back to the home and roads I'm fine with them wearing these 10 or so times per year or whatever as a throwback. They're not any worse than the 2nd blue alt with the GFGS wordmark and cap logo. I hope they wear the blue brimmed hat with them and not the all black one. Always loved that hat.

This makes sense as the Mets have previously gone this route so it's in essence a throwback or at least a nod to those teams.

Where I'd be worried is if the Mets came out in red and yellow uniforms for some random named reason. The stupid nba system will always be a worry when dealing with Nike. (Still Hate that they got the contract.)

This is just terrible but hopefully the Mets will wear them a handful of times and that's it. If it's a nod to the 2000 and 2006, so be it(they lost to the damn Yankees in them, that should be enough not to bring them back) and in 2015 they made the series in what they wear now. It's funny, I remember when I was begging for the Padres to go back to brown and the Mets, A's, Rangers get rid of the BFBS and I was told "just because those teams wore those uniforms(70s-80s) when you were a kid, doesn't make them good". Now the shoe is on the other foot and 20 years have gone by and those Met fans have grown up and want what they remember when they were kids. Nike wins again too!! I really can't believe they would screw with the jerseys they have now. In fact, after the Brewers, Padres and Diamondbacks changed recently, I gotta say the league has never looked better as a whole.(yes, the Rangers may have taken a step back and Miami still can't get it right). Okay, I'm all over the place, this Mets thing has me so:

Do the Dodgers use a slightly darker blue for their uniforms than the Mets and Royals? Maybe I'm just seeing things, but it seems like it.

Yes, there are 2 royal blues used by new era. Dodger blue used by the dodgers and Cubs, and a true royal blue used by every one else. There are also 2 navy’s used. Midnight navy used by the Yankees and Red Sox caps, and a lighter navy used by everyone else.

Other teams like Cleveland, Minnesota, and Seattle wear midnight navy.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

I knew I forgot some, but are you sure about Seattle?

Yeah Seattle uses the darker navy.

Tampa Bay is a team that uses the lighter navy

Have to say as someone who hates the New York Mets, I love them in black. It brings back great memories of their epic 7 game choke with 17 games to play. It's a great reminder that at the end of the day no matter how promising the Mets might appear to be, they're destined to be utter failures.

Yeah, I kinda liked the Mets black alt. What I didn’t like is how the color black infiltrated the rest of that set. I think there’s room for a black alt in their set, but it has to be totally separate from the rest of the set, and used sparingly. Blue and orange over a black base is just a good look visually, so why not use it sometimes? As long as they show some restraint, at least. A handful of summer night games would be perfect for this.
