When you shop the Armed Forces Day On-Field Authentic Collection, Major League Baseball will donate its licensed royalties from the sale of Armed Forces Day apparel to MLB charities to support programs for service members, veterans and military families.

"Licensed Royalties" - what exactly does that mean, and how much is actually getting donated?  And that doesn't say anything about New Era and what/if they're donating anything to anyone.  I wonder if MLB has ever been audited.

The average for royalties is 3-8% of any sale. While I assume MLB would be on the higher end they most likely aren’t paying more than 10% for each cap sold to “charities” that they don’t even list.

Could the Pentagon also be paying MLB for what seems to be a marketing gimmick? It sounds farfetched but you never know.

Not sure but I think something to that effect happens in the NFL with their "salute to service" gear every year.

It’s not really that far fetched.

The Hillsboro Hops (High-A affiliate of the Diamondbacks that plays ~15 minutes away from the Nike HQ) have slightly updated uniforms this year that look to be on the same template that we saw on a few Royals players during Spring Training. Notable features include a perforated mesh fabric, reinforced collar that sits on top of the placket, perforated numbers, and TPU sleeve patches and swooshes:

I think it is very likely that we’ll see something similar for the new Nike MLB template. Pretty nice overall, but not excited about the prospect of that collar on the navy pullover jersey becoming a regular thing.

This isn't surprising, just take a look at the Brewers and Padres unis released in 2020.  They appear that they could transition easily into the new template despite being created prior to its use.  Reminds me of the Anaheim and Buffalo NHL jerseys that came out the year prior to the Edge rollout by Reebok.

Our government has done worse things to its own people than underwrite ugly hats.

I fully acknowledge that this is a FOCO creation so it means nothing but how nice is it to see the return of the old Dodgers Blue Crew mascot (who really should just be promoted to the team's actual mascot over the creepy giant bobbleheads running around).

I used to love the koala bear when I was a kid in the '80s. I had a plush of him and some Dodger gear with him on it and was also a member of the Blue Crew fan club back then. I honestly think they probably used a koala because Australian culture was sort of a hot fad back in the mid to late 1980s here in the U.S.  Fosters beer got big then, Yahoo Serious and Crocodile Dundee were big and I know there was an Australian candy bar with a koala as the mascot advertised on tv and sold here as well. (the name escapes me)

The original koala used on all the gear and seen at the stadium was brown  and did not wear pants/diapers at all though.

Nike had nothing to do with those designs according to the teams. The first designs with any input from Nike has been the two city uniforms introduced this season.

No, those aren't it. Although I love those too! If I remember right, it was a regular candy bar, sort of like a Mars bar or Snickers bar. I think in the tv commercial the people were in a hot air balloon. I have no clue what it was called though.
