The A's is white with red outline, but the NY is red with a white outline.

I wonder what the original plan was - it seems like they produced the caps with logos already, and then slapped the patch on the side, and then the broken mountain pieces around the monogram.  If there was some Atlanta treatment they were going to be getting originally (besides the colors), wouldn't that also have been applied a while ago?

As usual I fail to see the appeal of buying “what if your team but Rockies” merch. I guess maybe there were these issues due to the game moving. I don’t know what would be ideal… maybe just black hats with silver team logos for everyone?

We should never accept fashion advice from a man who wears that belt.

Even some of us Phillies fans agree that his fashion sense is a bit questionable. Have you seen some of his custom cleats, like the Phillie Phanatic ones? Nice sentiment but they were horrible.

As for them going back to the well with the red tops, I am all for it. I like them. But as much as I don't like the road grays, I don't want the red tops to replace them.

If the Phillies are anything like the Reds then the dam just broke and they're about to wear their red tops way more often than "sporadically". The Reds used to strictly wear the red alternates only on Sunday home day games. They held to that rule for a while, but then expanded the usage to weekend home day games, which then grew to all home day games, which then grew to occasional road games, which then grew to wearing it whenever they feel like it. Now it feels like they wear it on the road as much as they wear the road grays.

I have steadfast beliefs that the road greys should bear the name of the city/state and the home whites should bear the nickname (looking at you, Marlins), but I've always loved the Phillies road uniforms for some reason. In fact, I love their entire set in general. It felt like a breath of fresh air when it was introduced in the early 90s and it still doesn't feel dated to me whatsoever.

The ubiquity of solid color alternates in MLB is another thing that makes me groan, so I'm not thrilled about this decision. I'm also fatigued by the powder blue rival, but the Phillies have the nicest ones. If it were up to me, they would start wearing those on the road as they were originally intended instead of re-introducing some red-on-red alternate.

I think that's his pride belt.  You can see the rainbow part on the right.  His normal belt is a shiny red kind.

If anything, I appreciate his fashion advice, because he's been wearing mostly blue trim with the alt '40s era uniforms that should have blue socks and black belts to begin with.

I wish they would just do with the ASG BP caps the same as they did with the 2013 caps and just put out a host specific NL and AL cap instead of trying to cram everyone’s team logo onto the hat.

You are correct.  I take it back.

Update: the Reds are wearing their red jerseys today at Milwuakee. They wore the road grays for the first two games of the series.

Bolded: I generally agree. How good would the Cardinals look with the St Louis script (that they use on their cream alternates) on the road grays? However, I will make an exception to this rule for the Phillies because the name of the team also functions as a city identifier and Philadelphia is a lot of letters to use in that bubbly font.

That didn't stop them from trying.

It... doesn't really work as well as the team name. "Phila," like the Sixers and old Warriors used, could work.

I think the only problem with that is nobody is going to buy just an AL or NL hat. People buy team-specific all star hats regardless of what they look like. It's all about money.

My preferred new Cleveland color scheme is purple, cream, and red, putting somewhat of a vintage spin on navy and red. Pays homage to the history of the franchise without retreading the same tired old scheme too many teams use.

This is why I’m open to Cleveland adopting new colors.

Me too, but I can't see it happening. The name change is going to be jarring enough for fans to get used to. I'm sure they'll try to salvage as much as they can from the current identity.
