Props to the team for not giving up in the second half, but they clearly were cooked after AD went down in game 4. And, really, it just felt like a matter of time for that to happen too.

LeBron and AD need a full season to rest, they need to figure out what they're doing with Schroeder, and they need to integarate AD2 for real.

The 2020 Lakers were an amazing team and story. Sucks to see them go out like this, but sometimes that's what happens.

At least both should be out of the Olympics this year. Even if LeBron wants another gold medal he should be sitting out. Let the kids play this year.

Denver/Portland was a crazy series too. As usual, nobody noticed it.

Dame deserves better.

I noticed...at Buffalo Wild Wings. :)

Wasn't Denver the best team no one talked about last season? No surprise then they were able to close out Portland-- though to be honest I kept watching waiting for Dame Lillard to add to his postseason long-bomb total.  Guess it wasn't to be this time. But this Denver squad is good

Would anyone want to see them in the Finals??

I mean, they'd have to go through Dallas to get there, should they meet. (I haven't been following the brackets so I don't know who's playing who right now). And speaking of Dallas: could you imagine this current Luka and 2011 Dirk Nowitzki on the floor at the same time?? (Recall that Dirk basically took over the 2011 postseason and made it his personal playground.) Cake would've been baked for the NBA title, IMO.

The Denver/Portland series in 2019 was great too with the 4 OT game 3.

Makes sense people wouldn't notice it when games 1-3 started at 10:30 EST, though.

Just imagine if Denver had Jamal Murray and his 22 PPG.

And Denver and Portland still aren’t glamour franchises by any stretch of the imagination; Jokic and Lillard both seem like stars mostly to hoop heads, and Denver is on year two of being a top West team (maybe the most consistent year over year) and yet they aren’t talked about much. A no-coast Western semis should be fun and weird.

It definitely sucks, but to expect anything more considering the injuries that have plagued this team and after having essentially no offseason was a bit unrealistic.

Lakers just need to recover, rest up this offseason and come back ready for next season. We should be strong title favorites next year once we're fully healthy.

The current remaining teams, sorted by most recent to win an NBA Championship:

Dallas Mavericks: 2011

Philadelphia 76ers: 1983 (last app. 2001)

Milwaukee Bucks: 1971 (last app. 1974)

Atlanta Hawks: 1958 (last app. 1961) -- none in Atlanta

Brooklyn Nets: never (last app. 2003) -- none in Brooklyn

Utah Jazz: never (last app. 1998)

Phoenix Suns: never (last app. 1993)

Denver Nuggets: no appearances

Los Angeles Clippers: no appearances

Literally only one team remaining has won a championship in the last 37 seasons. Pretty remarkable.

Also assuming they're able to keep Schroeder, THT, Caruso and Drummond. Those are their options, since they don't have any cap room at all.

I also feel like every Denver/Portland game was going against the Lakers/Suns.

Portland peaked in 2019. I'm not saying it's time to blow it up, but it might be time to blow it up.

And, the bill for the Lakers' bubble title has officially come due.  We'll see what happens with a normal offseason and a more spread out 21-22 campaign.

The bill, always comes due. -- Karl Mordo.

it was a waste that Boston held Kemba out of so many games even when healthy and he just got hurt in the playoffs anyway; he had moments of looking like classic Kemba and then they’d sit him the next night, no wonder he couldn’t put it together consistently.

The Mavericks winning the 2011 NBA Championship was basically Dirk Nowitzki telling his haters (who claim he's too soft and can't win in the post season) to well....kiss it where the sun don't shine.  He's not the type of guy who would tell his haters to kiss it, but that's what his performance in that finals was as well as lifting the Larry O'Brien.

There was this guy on ESPN Radio who hated on the Mavericks throughout the 2011 NBA Playoffs.  Once they got out of the first round, he predicted Lakers sweeping them in round two.  Instead the Mavs swept the Lakers.  He picked the Mavs to lose the Western Conference Finals and when they won that, he predicted Heat in 5 in the NBA Finals.   He was humbled though when Dallas won in 6.

I guess Dr. Lebron now has plenty of time to have the "critical conversations" with his family about whether or not it's in his best interest to get vaccinated.

It's not just LeBron, it' like 90% or so of all of the athletes from the Big 5 major sports.

They are moving on from Terry Stotts, and they may go after Jason Kidd:

feels like Kidd has some well placed sources. Haynes at Yahoo also had him interviewing for the Boston gig about 30 minutes after all that was even announced. nice turnaround from his history as a toxic coach, drunk driver and domestic abuser.

Well I'll give this much to these Clippers, the whole basketball world was laughing at them again, but they ignored it all and pulled through.  Only with this team could getting out of the first round feel like a monumental achievement.

Now we'll see if tanking to avoid the juggernaut Suns pays off!
