Lights Out
It might make sense for smaller suppliers to focus on just one school and make them their "Oregon" or "Maryland" instead of stretching their resources too thin across a bunch of schools. The mistake Under Armour made was thinking they could compete with goliaths like Nike and Adidas by copying their business model. If I'm a program like (for the sake of an example) NC State, I'd rather get the undivided attention of a company like Champion or Puma or New Balance instead of being just another Adidas school that will never get the resources that Louisville, Kansas and Washington get. SCL
Skechers could be an interesting player if they wanted to expand further, in recent years they have expanded into running and soccer.

This is what I miss about WSU’s deal with Russell Athletic. What I don’t miss, however, is how hard it was to get a decent replica and how some of the unis very clearly didn’t measure up to Nike in design quality. Our last set of Nike uniforms were near perfect — then we had to go and ruin them by removing the shoulder stripes and making them plain and boring in the name of mixing and matching. But I’m super glad we don’t use Adidas... I can’t stand their football leotards that are strrrrretched to the max over the pads. I already see that too much between Eastern Washington and UW. That would be recruiting suicide for a school. They wouldn’t want to go to a school that has Skechers as their shoe provider. They were a thing 20 years ago, for little kids. Now those kids are adults and remember what trash they were, and the kids going to college now refer to them as garbage. you also say they have expanded into running and soccer. Yea those shoes that wouldn’t even qualify as takedown models will really bring in the recruits. They are selling online for $6.

Just for clarity as I worked in the athletic department at the time, when the original exclusivity contract was originally signed in 2012, NC State was Adidas' only ACC school. At that time, Louisville wasn't yet a member of the league, nor was the deal there with GT or Miami. I think there was an idea from the NCSU administration that being the flagship ACC agreement for Adidas would help State in the long-term. Also, of note as a fan, while Adidas fan gear quality has always been questionable, it is kind of nice to see NC State differentiated from Wake Forest, Duke, and UNC-CH in terms of templated fan gear. That said, it would be interesting to see what other brands could do if they went all-in on a program as opposed to having countless contracts. I'd say Puma would probably have the best shot at this if it ever happened. But again, I don't know how it might affect recruiting. These kids are all conditioned to believe Nike and Adidas are far superior to everything else out there.
kb105
I think if a new supplier was to enter into college football uniforms, they would be smart to begin at the high school all-star games. They are able to spend up to a year on a single uniform set and are able to be as out there with their designs and not get too much flack for it. If they get in a few cycles of making those uniforms, they get in with the high school/ college athletes and can then enter the college football scene. It also allows them to get their feet wet without getting into a decade long contract worth millions of dollars in merch and gear. I'd also agree that Puma has the most realistic shot at being a uniform maker as they are currently getting into the basketball scene and are established in other sports like soccer. GelatinousLimes
I would love to see Georgia move back to the traditional block font they had pre "Bulldog Bold," I have never been a fan of the number appearance.

Looks like they're going with UA's font for Maryland there--not a bad choice. I don't ever remember red being anywhere close to this prominent in JSU's identity, so I hope it doesn't become too much a la Grambling State...but still, already one of the best looks in CFB. And obtw, anyone notice how Prime favored going mostly traditional here? Just sayin'... *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||

Dealing with Russell equipping the whole conference didn't help them stand out either. It looks like they either wanted to be only a blue and white team during that time, or that's what they can afford to be.

MellowTheMyth
I really wish Jackson State would retire that logo and hire someone to get them some proper logos to utilize. Until then, they should be using the "JSU" from this update they made some time ago.
