Love this series so far!

A few ideas-

Rockets > Orlando

Magic > Los Angeles

Clippers > Boston

Celtics > Chicago

Bulls > Dallas

Mavericks > Detroit

Pistons > Indiana

Pacers > Charlotte

Spurs > Oklahoma City

Thunder > Denver

Nuggets > Golden State

Putting blank space in because I don’t know how to get from Hornets to Spurs

Chicago celtics and Charlotte pacers would be interesting to see

Okay, adding some more between Charlotte and Spurs-

Hornets > Atlanta

Hawks > Cleveland

Cavaliers > San Antonio

After Golden State-

Warriors > Philadelphia

76ers > Washington

I got nothing after that

Charlotte Hornets > Atlanta Swarm

Cleveland Cavaliers > San Antonio Cavalry or San Antonio Rough Riders

Philadelphia 76ers  > Washington ??? (76ers doesn't fit as the Congressional act that authorized creation of a national capital on the Potomac River - the Residence Act of 1790 - was passed more than 13-and-a-half years after 1776 had drawn to a close.)

Thanks for all your suggestions! I got overwhelmed by the number of options I can pick. But it might take a long time for me to come up with the final choices for Utah and Tulsa, so keep those options coming.

If there's probably a consensus on what should I name for Tulsa's WNBA team, it would be the "66ers". However, I'm not totally keen on bringing that back for a WNBA team since it's already taken by the G League (formerly D-League). Perhaps, I could make a G League concept and bring the Tulsa 66ers back, since that team's current IRL name Oklahoma City Blue just doesn't make sense.

"Drillers" is still being used by a Minor League Baseball team. And what's with "Ego Lillies"? I'm unaware about the theme behind it, so I might want to ask for clarification about that name.

Like @vtgco said, "Bees" is already taken, since it has the same case as "Drillers" in Tulsa. Fun fact, I'm considering a natural calamity themed name for Tulsa, in conjunction with Oklahoma City Thunder, but it's not yet final. "Barons" might also present conflicts due to a hockey team with the same name. And "Sister Wives" might not sound empowering for women.

I immediately thought of Qualtrics' 5 for the Fight that's featured on the Jazz's jerseys.

Nice looks so far on your teams!

If I had to take a guess at remaining East teams, I’d say-

• Atlanta

• Tennessee (Nashville?)

• Carolina

• New York #2

Thanks for all the suggestions, but this thread was specifically about swapping existing names that just don't make much sense. While many of the suggestions above make sense, they're not really fixing existing problems. Other suggestions above just straight up invent new names. If I ever do a full NBA rebrand that's a possibility, but I think it's safe to say that this idea has run its course.

At least until the Pelicans move to Las Vegas...
