It's funny because everybody wanted Licht run out of town before Brady. They didn't even announce his contract extension -- which was part of the deal of getting Arians since they're friends -- because they knew people would be pissed.

Sucks for him for Brady to get all of the credit when I think if they brought in any QB that just didn't turn the ball over like Jameis, they would've been a contender.

Contender, maybe. But you don't get guys like Gronk or AB without Brady. Not that they had stellar years but they shined in the Super Bowl. Brady also changed the culture of that locker room overnight. Imagine running out of that tunnel on a Sunday with Brady next to you as opposed to say Andy Dalton. The compete level is through the roof knowing a QB of that caliber is with you.

So some ambulance chaser named Tony Buzbee in Houston is accusing Deshawn Watson of sexual assault. It’s as if Deshawn doesn’t want to get out of Houston fast enough and this scumbag is wanting to speed things along. ALAB

Sounds very suspect all things considered, but I wouldn't dismiss it as a hoax right off the bat.  It isn't inconceivable that a male celebrity that doesn't take well to hearing "no" for an answer happens to get a bit rapey with a commoner.  Just because the lawyer has extra motivation to take the case doesn't mean the situation never happened.

The timing of it all just seems really suspect. Also, sexual assault seems like it covers a lot of crimes when it used to be said crimes had specific names and it feels like its been that way for at least 10 years now. I don’t know if he allegedly kissed these women against their will or outright raped them. The former is still disgusting but not quite on the same level of horror as the latter.

Would it shock me if turns out he did do this? Nothing shocks me anymore, frankly. But I’m not holding my breath until this proceeds any further.

EDIT: Okay, turns out there ARE details in this case. Allegedly Deshawn wanted the Bob Kraft special and the masseuse wasn’t having it.

Meanwhile, in other free agency news I'm sure everyone cares about (lol)...

... the Snatit and Tealtown have been pretty busy.  Capology is in full swing, especially in Tennessee, where it looks like they are just cutting/releasing/letting walk left and right. They done already lost Jonnu Smith (who just got paid by Kraft & Ko.); they just let Corey Davis walk (which I'm not sure anyone saw coming) along with Dennis Kelly (not a world-beater, but still a solid cog, especially given that while Isaiah Wilson mess--speaking of players shown the exit)--oh and then of course they lost their offensive coordinator, who's now ATL's HC (again, for like the 400th time in 406 years).  On the other side, they let Kenny Vaccaro and Malcolm Butler go--and now they just released Adoreé Jackson, their [supposed-to-had-been] top CB. So um, that's a whole lot of cutting down going on. But, on the plus side, they did manage to bring on Bud Dupree from Pittsburgh, since neither Vic Beasley nor Jadaveon Clowney (nor really anyone on that defense) was able to generate a pass rush.  This season coming up shall be interesting for them.

Now Jacksonville has added Carlos Hyde (don't really know what he has left in the tank; haven't watched him in years), and just plucked from Seattle their top CB, Shaquille Griffin.  Remains to be seen if his twin will join him. So they're making some chatter. Not for nothing, but they're also bringing Tyson Alualu back, as well.

And speaking of chatter, reports are that A.J. Green just signed with Arizona...??? I mean, to be Kyle Murray at this point, especially if Larry Fitzgerald decides to come back...

*Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. 😁

Some are thinking the signing of AJ Green indicates that FItzgerald isn't returning.

I don't understand it.  Trading for Wilson or Watson would kill your team.  You wouldn't have any picks to use to build around them cheaply, and wouldn't have any cap room to build via FAs.

If you or a loved one has been assaulted by Deshawn Watson please call the office of Tony Buzbee, attorney at law, and get the compensation you deserve.... All of these stories maybe true but kinda weird they all went to him and never one reported his behavior somewhere even on social media...

Remember who won the free agents championship last year?

Me neither, but I think it was the Jets. This may help, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Historically, it hasn't.

I do. They went on to win the Super Bowl.

But you’re right, that’s a bit of an anomaly.  And a Brady thing.

There's just something about the Bears.  They're always in the top of the bottom third of the league or at the bottom of the middle third.  They do enough right to be mildly interesting, but what they do wrong sends them crashing into the rocks.

If you have time or inclination, I strongly encourage seeking out the postmortem press conference from earlier this offseason.  With the media gathered on Zoom, Chairman George McCaskey, President Ted Phillips, GM Ryan Pace, and HC Matt Nagy all held perhaps the most awkward couple hour briefing, at least that I can remember, in Bears history.  The press was, at least up until a few hours before, preparing for something about a coach firing, GM firing, maybe a shuffling of the front office, Phillips being relocated, etc.  Consequences for another .500 season in what was supposed to be a championship window with what was supposed to be an elite defense and a top 3 QB on a rookie deal backed up by a championship-winning veteran, both of whom were supposed to develop or steady the ship.  None of which occurred.

Instead the Bears ownership and brass told the press that nobody's getting fired, nothing's actually wrong with the team, nobody's being held accountable, and how dare the media assume or suggest changes.  The Chicago Bears beat reporters and notable twitter luminaries who were part of this press conference, some of whom have done this for the duration of the Pace administration, went a lot harder than normal in terms of pointed questions and setting a dismissive tone, and it had an effect.  It got testy, especially when they repeatedly asked when Pace and Nagy's contracts expired and Phillips/McCaskey politely told the media that line of questioning wouldn't be answered.

There's so much history to go over, but I'll spare you.  The TL;DR version of events is that Ted Phillips, an accountant from New York, is Team President because he navigated an extremely tumultuous renovation arrangement with the city of Chicago, and as a reward he was promoted and made an honorary member of the McCaskey family.  George McCaskey and Phillips are the head decision makers of the franchise and one doesn't seem to have any power above the other.  They co-run the team.  Neither of them are qualified to do so.  And nothing about this team is going to change.  You can flip the GM, you can bring in another coach, it doesn't matter.  Two fools run the franchise, and it'll be their children who take over, and their children after them.  So when the Bears make bad decision after bad decision, all while looking foolish in the process, fans like me just hold out our bowls and stomach the gruel, because that's life, baby.

I definitely think victims of sexual assault should have their complaints taken as seriously as possible. That being said, the timing of this sure seems awful convenient for the Texans, huh?

I'm just gonna wait and see on this one. We really don't know anything about these players outside of what they do on Sundays.

On the one hand, people sometimes, infrequently and in rare occasions weaponize sexual assault allegations.

On the other hand, those sexual assault allegations are rarely worth it if not true given all the scrutiny placed on the alleged victims.

So, again, I'm just going to wait and see.

Less the Texans, and more the lawyer. It will help chase of interest for now, but it's all tossed out by summer someone else will be interested if they don't have the quarterback they want by then.

Not sure how true it is, but supposedly Chicago offered three 1st round picks, a 3rd round pick, and two starters to Seattle for Russell Wilson

No team should offer more than one first round pick for a quarterback, let alone three.
