I think the date you’re referring to, May 21st, is probably when they’ll unveil the uniform, as opposed to when they’ll first wear it. At least, that’s how I interpreted this schedule Nike put out:

Yeah, you might be right. The schedule doesn't really make clear whether those "unveiling" dates refer to the first time they'll be worn or when their photos will be first released.

I’m really hoping the Giants city connect unis have some connection to the old PCL Seals.

The Miami Marlins today unveiled the club’s new City Connect Series uniform, developed and designed in partnership with Nike and MLB. The new uniform speaks to the legacy, culture, passion and pride for baseball in the South Florida community, while celebrating the personality and confidence of our city. The Marlins City Connect uniform is inspired by Latin America’s contribution to baseball, with a legacy red jersey that captures the energetic vibe and culture throughout South Florida and Latin America. The Marlins will debut the new uniform throughout the weekend of May 21–23, following Cuban Independence Day on May 20 and including the celebration of Cuban Heritage Night at loanDepot park on May 22.

The City Connect uniform honors the Cuban Sugar Kings’ legacy and influence on baseball across Latin America. The stylish jersey inverts the colors of the classic white and red Sugar Kings’ pinstripe jersey. The font and numbers on the jersey blend the past, present, and future of Latin America’s baseball and cultural influence.

You know what? That Miami set is really working for me. Much better than the Boston attempt.

I’m Puerto Rican, and though this set is honoring the Cuban Sugar Kings specifically, I still feel like the set successfully captures Latin American baseball as a whole. I can see that vibrant heritage clearly emphasized, and I feel like I can connect to it. For that reason, I think this is a success.

I guess that press release for the Marlins confirms the "release date" for each uniform is indeed the date the uniforms will first be worn on the field, so we can expect to see each one unveiled at least a few days in advance.

Also, I love this design. So much more life and character than the Marlins' everyday uniforms. I have a lot higher hopes for this program now than I did after the Boston ones were unveiled. Very excited to see what Nike has planned for my White Sox who are next.

Okay, I entered this with an open mind. My first reaction is that this is better than the Marlins' current set, but that's an incredibly low bar for me, obviously. What immediately elevates it is that it actually has the "colores" they keep talking about.

Good:

The wordmark. Much better than the soulless one they have now.

Cap color scheme. I'm a fan of the blue/red combination.

There's no black anywhere to be seen, so it's a stark departure from the current brand.

The bad:

I am having trouble warming up to the stripes, but maybe that's because they're so unorthodox. It would have look a lot more visually bland without them but I wonder of they could have achieved something similar with piping.

I'm undecided on the cap logo. I'd need to see a close-up or enlargement of it before I form an opinion. Overall, this is a pleasant surprise, although I have trouble embracing any Marlins color scheme that isn't teal-heavy. But it's clear that the City Connect series is going to be utilizing, emphasizing, or introducing new colors.

That unironically might be the best Marlins jersey ever made. Love the colors, and if they replaced the Sugar Kings-style logos with the Marlins' logos, this could be a full-time alternate for the team. Much better than Boston's garbage, Nike is currently batting .500 when it comes to the City Connect jerseys.

This definitely works much better for the Marlins than it does for the Red Sox because they don't have a cherished, long-lasting brand identity that has become synonymous with the city they play in. I don't support the money grubbing aspect of this series, but I will enjoy watching the players wearing these.

If these were ever adopted as full time uniforms, within two years a full black alt with black lettering/numbers would be introduced and would become the full time jersey within a year and a half after that, relegating this to the dustbin of Marlins jerseys featuring color.

Am I the only one that thinks the Marlin should be flipped to face towards the front? That being said, I like this uniform! It looks like a Marlins uniform, even if the red is something they haven't worn before.

I've long stated that this blue should be their main color. I'd be all for matching red pinstriped pants and blue socks. But I'm enjoying my cough syrup today

I am sore, wounded, but not slain

I will lay down and bleed a while

And then rise up to fight again

Time to drop black from the regular uniforms. This color scheme is stunning.

I agree with them dropping the black, but I don't want them to become a red-heavy team. This is gorgeous as an alternate, though.
