Nike Launches New MLB City Connect Uniform Series

Recommended Posts

Sorry, but running "snake" through the Google translator is lame as hell.  They're the Diamondbacks. And I'm pretty sure their Hispanic fans also call them the Diamondbacks. I would have much rather seen them incorporate a traditional Mexican design pattern, if they wanted to go this route.

I didn't expect this to be such an unpopular opinion, but I really like these. I'm a sucker for cursive script on a baseball jersey, and I like how they showed restraint & kept things simple. They probably learned their lesson when they tried incorporating the gradient diamond/scale pattern into the previous uniform set.

However, wearing a sand coloured hat & jersey with white or grey pants is going to look awful.

This one doesn’t do it for me, either. As said before, it is pretty “desolate, dry, and devoid of life” even though the video would have you think that was exactly what they were trying to avoid. The fact that there aren’t sand pants to match makes this set seem even more half-hearted.

So far, the only City Connect I’d consider to be worth keeping in the regular rotation would be the White Sox. With that track record, I can’t say I’m optimistic for the future of this program.

The best part of the El Snakes is the V logo patch, and it's going to be tucked into the damned pants.

Can we have a Yankees reverse pinstripes uniform now?

I wouldn’t mind seeing a road version of their home set.

I'm on board with that too.  Would solve the problem of the unnecessary white trim on the road set too.

Now that someone mentioned the Yankees, I'm thinking there is no way for the Yankees to have a successful city connect uniform. The Yankees home uniform is already the city connect uniform for the Bronx, if not the majority of the state of New York except for obviously Queens.

Sand is too dark to be a home set, that’s why the Padres use it as their away set

Baseball teams play each other wearing the same color jerseys on occasion. Cream/sand vs. grey (or any other color for that matter) is absolutely fine.

I'm guessing for the Yankees, we'll get something that specifically references the Bronx. A "BX" in the style of the Yankees iconic NY could look good if excecuted correctly.

It is even in Queens too.   I've always seen more Yankee gear being worn all over the tri-state area than Mets to the tune of 10:1.  The only time I've seen a lot of Mets caps/gear is at games either at Shea Stadium or Citi Field.

I really wouldn't be mad if they rebranded as the Serpientes. Unless they want to go back to the unis they won the World Series in, this set is closer than anything they currently wear to what I would expect a baseball team in Arizona to look like.

When ever has a team played against a team in sand while wearing grey? Show me examples

Here's the Twins playing the Angels, both in red

Red-red probably has higher contrast though than sand-grey.

Please enlighten me on how the exact same color has more contrast than this:
