PROS: I love the use of the Golden Gate orange.  I like the Golden Gate design on the sleeves.

INDIFFERENT: The fading fog element and the use of silver/grey.

CONS: The Golden Gate design on the hat doesn't work, same with the G on the front. You could have done the fog treatment to the Giants script and it would have worked.

But, seriously, get rid of that bridge design on the hat and I'd buy it.

This echoes my thoughts exactly.  The G and the bridge on the hat are the worst elements of it all.

There are people who associate it with gangs and criminality because they associate black culture with gangs and criminality.

Let’s also not forget how many black “criminals” are also in jail for non-violent offenses and shouldn’t be in there to begin with.

But let's keep the team out of it.  The LAST thing MLB needs is to have their brand linked to gang culture, nor would they want that.  If people make that connection, that's on them.

The bridge is international orange, though, not red.

true, but "International Orange" is a very reddish shade of orange.

Giants should have used this color.  Would have been interesting.

That's not Golden Gate (International) Orange though. It's a piss poor approximation of it, but they missed the mark.

I think my main issue with the Giants set is that, much like the D-Backs set, it's just too...plain. I don't understand people who think that removing the bridges would improve the uniform. Take those away and the uniform is even MORE plain. At least the bridges give it some character. Without them it's just a white Giants uniform with no black, a G on the front and numbers that look like a can of whipped cream exploded on them.

The White Sox and Marlins sets are still easily the best so far, the Cubs are decent and the others are all incredibly forgettable.

Did they even try?  I know it's dangerous to read into photos, but it looks like their standard orange.

The MLB release indicates the orange is unchanged.

Quote

The jersey puts focus on the Giants’ orange color and features a white background in addition to light grey trim on the front and back. San Francisco's gradient “G” logo pays homage to the city’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge, and the historical landmark makes appearances across the jersey’s sleeves as well as the side of the uniform’s orange cap.

I’m originally from the Bay Area, am obsessed with the city, and both my parents are from SF (mom is a native). I was in my 30s when I realized that the GGB was actually orange and not red. It looks about as red as it can possibly be from any distance more than 5 feet away.

Also, it’s apparently the same shade of orange as NASA’s orange flight suits. Looks a lot closer to their old fuel tanks, though.

I feel like the "orange" is so red that it's hard to really call it orange.

No idea if this is any authority, but this site has the proper name but calls it a shade of red.

Regardless of whether it's properly a shade or red or dark orange... it's not whatever the hell the Giants put on that uniform.
