Cincinnati Bengals New Uniforms

Pair orange socks with the black pants with any of the jerseys and I like it. I’d give that specific look a B+. Factoring in everything and the fact that they probably won’t ever wear the pants/socks combo I prefer and this is a C-. Better than what the had, but this era of  Nike always seems to leave me wanting more.

This is a great update! Very surprised nike didn't take this over the top. My one tweak would be on the primary white pants. Something about orange stripes on a white base doesn't scream "tiger stripes" to me. Would prefer having them go with something like this:

That definitely improves over the orange striped w/ black stroke version of the pants, and works better with the black jerseys.  It does seem apparent to me that the designers avoided having color blocks.  They even mention it on the "Uniform Details" on the Bengals' website.  So I do get why they didn't go this route.  I wonder how the orange striped white pants look without that black stroke.  It's the only thing off about it, but I don't think it ruins anything.  I wouldn't be surprised if we see them take the black stroke off of those pants in a few years. Overall, I think they did a great job with this update.  It looks so much better than the previous version of the jerseys.

They're doing a vote on the Bengals' website as well, on favorite uniform combination.  Right now, Orange Jersey/Black Pants (which I voted for) is winning at 22%, followed by all Black at 19% and Orange Jersey/White Pants at 16%.  Least popular are the two Black Jersey/White Pants combos at 6% and 4%.

I wish they just put TV numbers on the sleeves and told the players tough crap you have to keep the length of the sleeves.

.

But outside of that, fantastic job

I've never looked at a jersey and said, "Oh wow I really like those TV numbers". Removing the TV numbers is a much better option than going the route of some teams like the Panthers.

Hell, reverse the orange and black on the pants and it works with the black AND orange jerseys perfectly.

I 100% agree. I felt the same way with the Chargers new uniforms a year ago. Losing the TV numbers on those short-sleeves is important.

I will, however, join @EddieJ1984 in lamenting the loss of longer sleeves. I occasionally watch '70s and '80s NFL broadcasts on YouTube -- they're fascinating to watch, and often include the old commercials. A true time machine. Anyway, I really liked the longer-sleeved look. Lots more room to play with design-wise.

Overall a really great set. Only thing that bothers me is the two white pants. I mean, I get why they have two, but I’m curious to see how often the black and white set actually get used. Which I hope is only a one to two game thing

9/10

And once again we see why Internet votes are trash.  ;)

I get why those black pants aren't great. But when I look at this set on the whole, they're the only ones that feel right, largely because they're the only ones that get the tiger striping right. Fix that on the white pants, and the black pants get put in their place.

Lots of "what did they even change it looks the same" and "they're 80's throwbacks" on Bengals Twitter. Never read the comments.

To be fair that's probably a good thing.

They still look like you would expect the Bengals to look like.  They didn't simply them too much to the point of losing their tiger identify.

Thank goodness there's no orange pants, and black is still the primary, but holy crap are those orange-striped pants dumb as hell. The outlines ruin any consistency with the rest of the uniform, and they don't look like tiger stripes. At least it's only the pants they screwed up, which can be fixed at any time. I doubt they will be, but one can hope.

The fact the Bungles still don't have an indoor practice facility makes them a sham of a franchise.

This is at best a slight upgrade. The side panels had to go.

But no TV numbers sucks. Out of the pant options,  the black looks best.

Too much white on the road uniform. Color balance off.

It's no Rams , Falcons, or Titans mess so in that respect its a great uniform.

Not bad, Bengals. It obviously isn’t perfect, but anyone who expects perfect from the Cincinnati Bengals is just setting themselves up for disappointment.

There are a few issues here that could be fixed with some pretty minor tweaks (odd stripes on the pants, and I still think a block font would look better), but overall this is absolutely a big fat W for this organization.

Not many surprises to be found here, as the important reveals really came from the leaks. I’m really happy with how these turned out though, they’re so much cleaner and easier to look at than the previous incarnation.

The big surprise, though, is obviously that the third pair of pants are not orange, but instead an alternate white pants design. To be honest I don’t think these have any place in the set, as any combo that uses white pants would look better with the ones that simply have black stripes.

I’m also somewhat disappointed the stripe design is still pretty similar to the previous pants, in that they still appear as they are contained within a block. Trying some “free” stripes similar to the jerseys would have been more ambitious and probably helped the design flow better.

Comparing the retail jerseys, it looks like the shade of orange has indeed darkened, which is also a bit disappointing.

Still, these are an immense upgrade without a doubt. I just hope they drop the white pants with the orange stripes sooner rather than later, they really don’t need them at all.

Had the chance to iron out all the inconsistencies, only to unveil new ones SMH.

• White pants w/ orange stripes and black outlines?  huh?   The clear solution is a black panel and orange stripes.

• Wordmarks on the front of jerseys are not needed. This is now the NFL's version of NBA logos need a basketball.

• Number font, MEH. A custom block font would be better IMO.
