I see these seemingly screen printed jerseys on the auction block a lot. How’s the general quality? They all look more like t shirts, yet they are bought up pretty quickly

The gimmicks will continue as long as we let them.

These guys make a lot of the minor-league one-offs: https://www.otsports.com/special-event-baseball-jerseys

The quality is okay - not the same as a regular-season jersey, but definitely a step up from t-shirts (it's a "Breathable, durable Euromesh or Pro Euromesh fabric," FWIW).

And for anyone else wanting to sign ➡ http://chng.it/4vHyvLXvBW

Who on earth would want to sign something that stupid?  Bad enough the team felt compelled to respond.

That GJ logo, though. 😍  So much better than the parent club’s.

Louisville Bats throw back to purple RiverBats days

July 6, 2019 - 21:05 PM

After the 1997 season, the Triple-A Louisville RedBirds switched affiliates from St. Louis to Milwaukee, and thus needed a new nickname. Playing off their city’s location on the Ohio River and its close relationship with baseball bats, they adopted the […]

MiLB announces record sales, top 25 teams in merchandise

July 8, 2019 - 18:08 PM

Minor League Baseball set another record in overall merchandise sales in 2018, tallying nearly $74 million in total sales from all 160 affiliated teams, up more than four percent from 2017’s then-record $71 million in sales. While MiLB does not […]

And of course, where were the "New Orleans Baby Cakes" on the list?

The answer-- they were not on it, in their second year of existence as such (2018).   This after they sold all that "silly" "cute" "wacky" merch online nationwide (big-time) -- and to a few transplants, hipsters, and clueless folks locally--and made the list in 2017, which the owner was quick to point out in defending the name.

Of course, the name has no staying power or attraction to local fans who had and would continue to buy team merch LONG TERM, not just for themselves but for every new crop of kids that come along EACH YEAR.

Just goes to show, the fix was always in, and the name change was just a cash grab by owner Lou Schwechheimer.  At least he's not getting Havana, but settling for Wichita.

Nice to see the Bulls and Sea Dogs on the list again. Both are great examples of looks that have staying power and don't need to be changed despite being a bit dated.

I know a few years back the Sea Dogs were contemplating a logo change to be a bit more modern, but fans were opposed to it. Glad they didn't make a switch.

I've got a dribbble, check it out if you like my stuff; alternatively, if you hate my stuff, send it to your enemies to punish their insolence!

I wonder how much last year's copa gear accounts for that, or even one off event gear.

Next year may see $100 million more. Sadly Brandiose will get their credit.

I'm sad these gimmicks have tarnished the game.

Even star wars night brings out the fans. And those events are cookie cutter from team to team.

Just like MLB, fans aren't buying regular on field gear with much of any regularity. But they'll buy the crap out of special event caps.

Good to see the River Cats hold a spot on that list. Their RC primary cap logo is trash, but the bridge gear is stupid popular.

kind of mildly surprised the sod poodles aren't on the list. but then again they are a first year team.

The data was based on the 2018 season, when the Sod Poodles were still the Missions.

The Albuquerque Isotopes’ alternate Mariachis identity just keeps winning things. The Spanish-language brand won Minor League Baseball’s inaugural Copa de la Diversión, or “Fun Cup,” last year, and the team is at it again this season, beating out 71 other […]
