2021 NFL Season - Adults Arguing About Matt Stafford

Recommended Posts

I don’t think I’ve ever been this disappointed over a sporting result that didn’t involve my team. I’m legit heartbroken for Buffalo fans and for Josh Allen. They deserve better. If any fanbase deserves to taste some success it’s them.

Legit question: does the outcome of this game influence the competition committee to again review the OT rules? (Recall we even got these OT rules in the first place due to His Favreness.)

I've long felt the NFL should adopt something more like college...screw the clock, place the ball at the 50 to start possession (Or maybe the possessing team's own 40). Each team gets a possession. First team scores a TD and the other one doesn't...oh well.

Not specific to this game - because the rules are what they are, and everyone knew that going in to it - but people watch because they want to see two awesome QBs duel it out.  The QBs aren't technically playing against each other, but they really are.  The NFL is a TV show, and I'm not sure why it wouldn't want to put on as compelling a show as possible, which means that each QB gets a turn.

The Bills can't complain, because everyone knows the rules going in, but yeah - the rules have always been bad, and they still are.  I get that there's a safety issue and they don't want players playing any more plays than absolutely necessary, but let's be honest - nobody cares about their safety - not even the players.  They can hit each other in the head for a few more minutes.

That was the greatest weekend of NFL football of all time, and it had to be my team to not get the miracle win, even though they scored two TDs within the last minute.

FFS.

EDIT: If nothing else, as a Bills fan I'm not even surprised. True shock would have been them winning.

Regardless, I've long said OT should be the 4th quarter all over again. 15 minute period and however it ends is however it ends. I've never liked sudden death in the NFL. It doesn't fit with the way the game is played like it does in hockey, or like it would in soccer.

I've also long had this idea: make OT 2-minute drills for each team. Each team gets a possession on their own 35, and two minutes to score either a FG or TD. Two timeouts per team for the entirety of OT. That'll also (hopefully) make the OT period go much quicker.

Honestly, OT should simply be each team sending its toughest player out to mid field and they fight each other till one either dies or submits.  The other players could form a circle around them and snap their fingers while they're fighting.  If one team was savvy enough to save its ape till OT, then good on them!

EDIT:  better idea - the players that are fighting are chosen by random draw.  So you could have some big bad-ass lineman beating the ever living hell out of the backup QB and then snapping his neck.

I still think just playing a 5th quarter would be ideal. Guarantees each team will get possession no matter what. It isn't a score-and-it's over game, you still have to have some strategy behind it.

Tough tough loss for the Bills. Was really hoping for them to pull it through and complete the sweep.

Go Bengals

None of us are giving the Bengals a chance next weekend, right?

Correct. And I don’t give either of the NFC teams a chance either. Tonight was the real Super Bowl and the Chiefs just won it.

Yeah. Strange as it is. I'm actually more upset now than when Buffalo beat the Patriots last week (probably because that game was never close.) LOL

I mean leading with 13 seconds left, that should be game over. But of course not for KC. That's not even embarrassing, it's just frustrating. Hopefully one day they finally beat the Chiefs and win a Super Bowl.

The Rams can compete with anyone. Not counting them out, should they get past SF

Lol the Rams aren’t beating the Chiefs. Can’t close vs football’s Mariano Rivera. No way.

Difference between the Bills and Lions is the Bills actually try to win.
