No, they've just been doing extremely well; they've drafted Wallstedt and Lambos.

The extreme font "killing" made it seem like we had another Dany Heatley situation on our hands

Also. The Detroit lions 'win' the draft every other year. So ya.

WEEEEEEEELLLL...this sure puts a big old hole in Bergevin's character.

The debate on social media right now is does he or does he not deserve a second chance? That's the question. I'll respond to this with a counter question: has he faced repercussions for his actions?

He's a 1st round draft pick. If you pretty much get away it the 1st time, it doesn't send the right message. Unless I missed something, he went unpunished. The team made a bad call.

He paid a fine of about $1,650.

To be cynical, I think the crazy part is Bergevin still took him at the higher end of where we was projected to be picked.  This is a guy with a quasi-sexual crime on his record, and who literally asked to not be drafted a few days ago. Was he that much better than the next person on the Canadiens' draft board?

Edit: And Bergevin worked for the Blackhawks back in 2010. Niiiiiiice.

Some things (his time with the Blackhawks, mostly), I wasn't aware of. A compiled list of bad acquisitions was put together in comments I've seen. He also dumped Subban for "character" problems, despite him donating time and money to the Children's hospital.

This is not a knock on Price personally, but an inflated 100+ million dollar contract to an average goalie who always collapses when it counts, that is extreme overhype! Bergevin probably did it on purpose.

At this stage, it's clear that he's absuing his power and I genuinely feel like he does not love the team he works for. The only time I remember him appearing in front of fans is when they beat Vegas, he descended to the bench to congratulate everyone, as fans cheered along.

Habs won't get any better, until he's removed from the organization. My team deserves better.

Got it. I also did a quick check of eBay if I wanted to go this route (and I don't):

the ice blue on these bootleg jerseys is actually seafoam.

Note the differences between these colours:

Good news developing on the Coyotes arena front;

Tempe's put out an RFP for an arena and entertainment district on the banks of Tempe Town Lake and the Salt River, and the Coyotes are in active discussion with the city on it. Getting an East Valley arena completely owned and managed by the team would mean all event revenue would go to them, which is one of the biggest problems GRA has had; the arena is owned by the City of Glendale, and thus they get all of that non-hockey event revenue.

GREAT NEWS Y'ALL!

Exactly. This is terrible news.

There's no good news about hockey in Phoenix while Quebec City or common sense still exist. The Coyotes are never going to happen.

Not sure how to feel about Seth Jones; if he were as good as initially advertised, he wouldn't be on his third organization.

Boqvvist should be useful for Columbus. I don't think calling him "the next Erik Karlsson" because he's Swedish did him any favors.

Seth Jones will be on his third team because he asked to be. The trade from Nashville was the Predators being the Predators and it took like 11 minutes to clearly determine that Johansen for Jones was a huge steal for the Blue Jackets. He was a top 3 reason the 2016-2020 Blue Jackets were a regular playoff team.

Analytics people hate him because he doesn't meet their criteria for good defenseman in the face of what he actually does for the team on the ice. Allison Lukan who writes about the Blue Jackets is about the biggest analytics disciple you can find and even she says defensive analytics are shaky at measuring dmen quality and eyeball test is why you want Seth Jones. Real life example - before the bubble series Leafs fans got all up in my mentions about how his advanced analytics suck and how he'd be at best the 4th best dman on the Leafs. Then he went and shut down the Leafs top lines, ate minutes, and titled the ice in the other direction, and beat what was the superior overall roster. His 2021 was bad for him, but it was bad for every player in the organization and I'm almost certain we saw a full Tortorella mutiny. It's unlikely he'll be worse next season.

I don't know anything about his brother, but I will say that his family is not so secretly MAGA and seems very uninterested in carrying a torch for black hockey players. I was never won over by his personality in interviews and I don't get the sense that he's a particularly deep thinker.

And that contract.....YIKES

Lol, Tempe has tried this already several times for just about every single pro sports team (and probably ASU) in the entire state. They have issues with the location because Tempe Town Lake is directly in the flight path of Phoenix/Sky Harbor. If they move the arena/stadium far enough away from the airport to be out of the flight path, you’re basically in Mesa and are stuck with a lot of the same problems they have in Glendale but now in a more densely packed area (Which I also think has a weaker infrastructure for massive events like that. That’s just what I can see from living there for four years)

This goes without saying, but this whole thing is ridiculous. I’ll believe it when they take the ice for their first game.

Are there any good defensemen in the free agent market this summer? The Bruins’ blue line was annihilated by the Islanders during the playoffs and I’m afraid they’ll be schlepping out the same defense next season. I’m not down for another “next year the prospects are gonna be SO GOOD” situation.

Dougie Hamilton is probably the biggest UFA available on the market (Ovi is a UFA, but him signing an extension is a foregone conclusion at this point), but he's going to be looking for a deal similar to what Jones just signed for.

Martinez, Savard, and Ryan Suter could also be options for the Bruins to pursue.

GREAT NEWS Y'ALL!

It's been clear for years that the majority of the Coyotes fanbase live in the East Valley, which is why the team has been pursuing a Scottsdale/Tempe arena. Auston Matthews has put a bigger spotlight on the grassroots development in the area, and the Coyotes just drafted Josh Doan in the 2nd round, another local product. Arizona State's hockey program is already quite respected after only 6 seasons in Div 1.

Obviously the Coyotes situation has been a mess for majority of their existence, but I hate that a large segment of the hockey community seems to be rooting for them to fail.

Wasn't there direct evidence of the Coyotes taking away from school funding? Their whole existence has been an exercise in realized opportunity costs.
