I think they should introduce a bit more purple, but I wouldn't call them the White Sox or a black and white team. They use silver fairly well and I think that it should be a major part of their scheme. In terms of adding more purple, it's mostly the front numbers and/or wordmark on the home primary that could use that.  But I get the impression that people want more drastic changes than that and I wouldn't see that as necessary.

Well, it starts with dumping the black cap for purple. Then making the black parts of the home wordmark purple, as well as the undershirts, belts, and socks. Do the same on the road as well. Limit the all-black and black-with-purple-bill hats to the alternates.

What we want is ultimately a color swap so they're not a black and silver team anymore. Even after changing the purple shade, it still doesn't read purple as much on the home set.

The homes are almost identical, minus the name/logos.  Look at this photo of the back of the home uniform....

The Royals seem to have a new jersey lined up for Friday:

Judging by what you can see on the sleeves, the striping looks thicker. I agree that it'll be powder blue. Most likely a throwback to the Bo Jackson road unis.

With so few changes in 2021, I'd expect to see several changes for 2022. Nike's rolling out a new template as well.

Some might be unveiled in February (which would seem odd as it would miss holidays but maybe it takes advantage of the ST surge after football season).

Interested to see what the Royals unveil on Friday.

Well with the impending work stoppage coming in less than a month, it might not be the best time to push merch.

My whole goal was to eliminate an all-navy hat. I hate how grey sets have to get "darker," such as the Cardinals, A's, Braves, and Reds' road caps. The Cardinals markedly improved their look by going back to primarily red hats on the road, while the A's and Reds' batting helmets are proof that the all-green and black-billed caps don't need to exist.

Giving justification for the teal-billed hat to be an all-around hat was my desire. That and the acceptance that the Marlins won't do the obvious thing and modernize their '93-'02 designs. One team has to be teal-heavy, yes?

This could be a me problem, but I don't like heavy use of bright teal on grey uniforms. It's a weird clash thing in my eyes. Most bright colors face this issue, but for some reason, Seattle/original Florida tealish/aquaish hits this problem the most for me. Just not a big fan of that look in a world where grey away uniforms are the requirement.

You have a point about the back numbers and last names, but I think that the front works for the most part. Also remember that the pinstripes are purple, not black. I think that silver works for the front wordmark, but I do agree that some purple accenting would be welcome.

My overall point here is that people seem to be clamoring for the Rockies to either hard or soft rebrand, and I don't think that's necessary. I don't mind the serif text at all. I think they should preserve their current identify but perhaps just add more purple to the existing home uniform or introduce an all-purple or partially purple cap. The road uniforms have a sufficient amount of purple and they do have an all-purple alternate. It's only the home primaries that would benefit from some slight tweaks.

That name/number font is definitely going to take some time to get used to.

So much of this brand bothers me, but the G+ball logo and weird curves on the side of the C make no sense. Both have an unnecessary cartoony/minor league feel. Only thing missing is a Guardian statue swinging a baseball bat and we'll be in full Brandiose mode.

It seems I was right about the number font! I’m anxious to see the whole font set released.

I find myself liking the brand more upon reflection, but I’d prefer a guardian statue face logo to the G-ball. The font is the right amount of “different” for me, helping to set it apart from the old brand in a subtle way. That and a display font is a good way to differentiate the Guardians from the other navy/red teams.

The more I see of that brand, the more it just feels like some movie or TV show set in Cleveland that couldn’t get the licensing to use Indians gear during filming. Something about it just feels… Cheap, I suppose?

I dunno, give it a season or two. Maybe it’ll set in just fine. I still think if they were going to go all out on a rebrand (and if they weren’t going to use Spiders), they should’ve at least made some color adjustments. I get the argument that keeping the colors will help with the transition, but I actually kinda think it makes it harder to adjust to. Like, it lands just a tad too close to what they just left behind and it feels kinda weird.

It's the squeezed C that bugs me -- doesn't match the all-caps Cleveland wordmark, which in turn doesn't really go with the Guardians script. Not exactly sure what I would have done differently, but that's the part that's really not working for me.

From what I've seen so far, the ball logo is the only thing I'm iffy about. But it does have a vintage look, so that's a plus. I saw a lot of concept art around the internet trying to integrate the statue face into a logo and nothing worked for me. Everything I saw looked like a bad college football mascot.

The ball is actually my favorite logo of the bunch, it's so ridiculous it wraps around to being charming. I'll echo the distaste for the squeezed C, but I think it'll be something we all get used to within a season or two. The Guardians script in particular is great and I think it'll look super good on a uniform.
