I mean, you can go back to their inaugural season where they didn’t wear black until after wearing white ten times. Last season was the first time they wore black at home during a day game before week 7 (week 6 vs the vikings). They’ve always done this.

I also found that they definitely used to wear their alt blues the normal two times per year despite using it in the preseason also. Idk what’s going on now.

They wore black in Week 5 vs. the Eagles last year too.

While I can't speak to if it matters much if at all when you're under a bunch of pads and stuff, when I'm just walking outside there is a massive difference between wearing white and dark colors. There's less of one when it's something lighter like orange or yellow, but it's definitely still hotter in those as well.

I don't know if there's been any actual studies done on that to see if it's an actual effect or just imagined, but regardless at least 50% of my shirts are white or light gray because of it.

I think it has more to do with the sun than heat per se.

Solar radiation is definitely absorbed differently by different colors.

Heck, even the Bears wore (non-throwback) white at home a few times for the first week of the season.

Actually wouldn't mind seeing that come back.

I usually would rather see the Bucs in red, but the white jersey dominance really doesn’t bother me for several reasons. First off the current set isn’t as strong as their original pirate flag set, and I actually think the white jersey is a stronger look for them. The differences between the original Super Bowl set and the Brady Super Bowl set are subtle, but enough to make the white jersey the stronger option imo.

The other reason is because the Bucs have been wearing white at home FOREVER. They’ve sort of been the defacto Dolphins (some years even closer to defacto Cowboys), and usually only wear red for the second half of the season anyway. They’re just a super forgettable franchise most of the time so most non Bucs fans never really paid attention.

I think what bugs me more about the Bucs doing it is that the color scheme becomes so much more pewter-heavy, whereas when a team like the Dolphins does it, they still feel like an aqua team. The numbers, the socks, etc. are still all aqua. The Bucs have a nice color scheme that works better with the red jersey.

I think (maybe lovie?) did that as an old school tradition or something…also, weren’t their legs too hot? I mean look at all that dark navy in the sun.

I’m here at the Hall of Fame Game waiting out the lightning delay (for some reason).  I saw the new authentic Commanders helmet on display here. It’s actually amazing how nice that helmet is in person. The finish is beautiful and they showed real restraint with the two color scheme and the single stripe.

Makes it all the more unbelievable how badly they bungled literally every other part of the new uniforms. You could base a pretty nice  identity off of that helmet. And I mean pretty much any of us could. Except them, apparently.

I do believe that the new Washington helmet is the jewel of the identity, however they just fell back on usual design tropes and stereotypes for the other 95% of the jersey. They really should had leaned in more with the military iconography.

Totally understand that, and if they were still using the original Super Bowl unis, I would agree. While I’m very happy they tried to bring that set back, there are a few things about it that just feel kind of “off”, I guess. The lack of shine on the pants and how much darker the pewter is really stands out, and there are a few things about the overall design of the red jersey (that weird collar, mainly) that I find to be really distracting, as someone who’s basically been obsessed with the Bucs branding since 1997. When they wear the white jersey it just feels so much closer to that original set, and whatever feels off about it is just less noticeable IMO. It feels more like what it was originally intended as, I guess. If that makes any sense.

it's a fine looking helmet but in reality it needs some white in it to give it better balance with any uniform...to me it feels more like a minnesota gophers helmet than anything else.

I thought that too, until I saw it up close in person.  I was really taken back by how great it looked. Simplicity is under rated.

The helmet is definitely my favorite part of the new identity. I miss the metallic burgundy of the old one but this new finish is really cool as well. I just wish that they had kept the traditional gold facemask to really make it pop.

Well sure, the helmet isolated won’t look too bad when you don’t see how badly that finish doesn’t match the burgundy fabric of the rest of the uniform.

They did that with the alternate black uniform and I dislike it vehemently. The team hats with the camo patterns this preseason are horrible looking as well.

that looks really good. Looks much better as an M than as a W, even though I can’t describe why.

The alternate uniform was a half-formed attempt, and they need to build that identity on their main uniforms, not the uniforms that they are going to wear once or twice a year.

Saying :censored: is UNACCEPTABLE, and then even personally insulting the players for their quotes about liking their own uniforms.

Maybe if the players weren't absolute uniform boneheads (no pun intended) we wouldn't have to
