Now these are the amazing Warriors uniforms instead of the bland navy ones.

Love it. Only Warriors jersey I even wear any more is my Chris Webber Champion version of that jersey.

since we’re on the topic of throwbacks and anniversaries. i find it pretty funny and sad that the pelicans have completely forgotten about their own anniversary of 20 years. no anniversary for the team has ever been acknowledged before (the 10 year anniversary was overshadowed by tom benson’s purchase of the team, plus they were still called the hornets which still didn’t resonate with the city very well)

not even a little 20 year logo anywhere? ouch.

Most teams that have relocated, from what I've seen, try to stay away from these sorts of things to avoid the fanbase starting an uproar about "You spent x years in this city and you're just gonna ignore us?!" (ie. Nets move to Brooklyn, circa 2012)

  • OKC ignored their 10th anny. in 2018/19.
  • Memphis celebrated 10 years in Memphis in 2010/11, then celebrated the franchise's 25th in 2019/20.
  • Sacramento has only aknowledged thier time in California, with their 20th in '04/'05, 25th in '09/'10, 30th in '14/'15, and thier 35th in '19/'20.

LOVE IT and they brought back the "C" for captain too

What’s the point of it though? It’s not like football where they call the coin flip, or hockey where only captains can tally to the ref without penalty. The captains C in basketball is meaningless and that’s why no teams use them, because if you are the team captain in basketball everyone already knows.

For one, this jersey has the C because it's a throwback and the Warriors of the early '90s used it. So there's that.

But you're thinking of the term "captain" rather rigidly.  A captain doesn't have to serve a specific function in the game the way they do in soccer or hockey. Sometimes it's just an honorific to denote the team's leader. It's as much an internal thing as it is external -- this is the person who has been given the responsibility of setting the tone in the locker room, in practice, etc. It's more about denoting leadership within a squad than anything else.

It's not, and really never was, a common practice in the NBA. But it's far from meaningless.

Bucks released their purple throwbacks

Sure seems like the originals had a bigger wordmark and bigger numbers. Might be the Nike template that has forced everything to be smaller.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.
