And?  This is different from every leaked uniform identity how?

It follow the script.  Leak of something before planned press conference, everyone denies everything despite it being confirmed by multiple sources, presser happens and completely pretends that the leaks never happened.  Tale as old as time.

But really, I was hoping he'd go one more year, especially since he's still playing at a very high level.  I guess going out a year too soon may be better than going out a year too late.  I hope everyone appreciates what we got to witness over the past 20 years.  None of us ever saw Babe Ruth or got to see young kids in disbelief when telling them about his career.  I'm glad I got to see Brady's whole career, and I still remember exactly where I was, who I was with, and what I was doing when the 'tuck rule' thing happened.  Can't believe that was > 20 years ago.

I watched the tuck rule game on the 19 inch 25 inch CRT TV at a long ago girlfriend's parents' house. Hard to believe the same guy played in the league then, let alone on long-abandoned technology.

How many copies has your book sold?

As a Browns fan I love the fact that if Brady retired this year it will completely overshadow Roethlisberger getting into the HOF that weekend.. He'll be an afterthought outside of Pittsburgh.

They should invoke the Lemieux / Gretzky Rule and put Brady in next year.

Same. The league will be better off without him.

Yeah, I said it and I stand by it.

it is and I think he will.  It's more of a case of "someone let the cat out of the bag."

I'll just re-iterate one thing here since I made my thoughts known in the NFL thread. I just can't believe he chose to do it with a team that is still playoff caliber, despite the changes in coaching. He was playing at such a high level, it seemed just so weird to go out now, knowing you could be so close to getting back to another Super Bowl. Then again, I suspect winning last year was pretty much that final feather in the cap he wanted. Once he proved to himself he could add "winning without Belichick" to his legacy, his fate was likely sealed.

Edit: Actually one other thing. Two years ago, when he announced he was joining Tampa, a few guys asked me about it and I said, had I been the one with the power, I would've passed. Not because Brady wasn't the greatest QB but I wanted a franchise QB for the long haul. So yea, that sucks in the immediacy now, but looking back on how it worked out, and knowing just how cruel and unfair sports can be, I'll always be grateful he helped me see my team get another ring. And consider Tampa's history, there's a good chance I may not see them win for a veeeeeery long time.

"And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

Oh god, it’s going to be such a spectacular implosion for the Bucs the minute Brady bounces. Gronk/Arians/Suh/anyone else even close to retirement is gonna take that option, Godwin is out, and this team is still run by very dumb people so they’re gonna go into next season with Gabbert as the starter and will try and fail to develop Kyle Trask into something useful.

But this is what we all knew was going to happen. It’s been the Bucs problem forever. They just cannot develop any long lasting momentum on offense. Brady was there for two years and already holds basically all of the Bucs team passing records. It’ll go back to being a black hole, because that’s what it’s always been. I’m just hoping some of that “winning mentality” rubs off on them a bit.

All I can say is the last two decades of football have felt like somebody else’s party with Tom Brady’s crew. I appreciate him coming over and throwing the party at our shack for the final two seasons.

"Farewell to the goat?" Joe Montana retired in 1994. I don't see the point in starting a retirement thread for him in 2022. 🙃

His HOF wide receiver was known as the original G.O.A.T., so they could be talking about him.
