Yeah; it's not as bad as it used to be. I'm a bit outdated now but in the metrodome era, the Vikings would always be the "home" team overseas and I recall thinking that it was BS to have to eat two preseason games and then go to 7 regular season games.  So now, every-other year, it's a much better deal...I kinda forgot that there are not four preseason games anymore. That said, I still don't like the idea of not having a reward for the #1 seed (well, their choice of uniforms) and not having season-ticket-holders get to go without traveling.

I know you are a season ticket holder so your reaction matters more than mine (seriously, in case that seems sarcastic).

So while my argument turns out to be outdated, I still think moving that game to a neutral site would stink.

Agreed all around. Thanks for the 'no sarcasm' comment, but I didn't take it that way.

While I COULD get tickets to a neutral site game, I'm guaranteed mine if this doesn't happen. It sucks, but it will make more money if/when it happens.

It's where I sit.

The gap between Burrow/Mahomes and every other AFC QB is astronomical

Allen is no longer a franchise QB after playing worse than Dak on Sunday, Herbert showed his true colors in the 27-0 collapse, and Lawrence showed on Saturday he's not ready for primetime

It's like a few years back in the NBA in regards to LeBron and the next best player

There is a gap, but it's not like the rest of the AFC has terrible QBs and only the Bengals and Chiefs have anyone who's any good.    You are making it sound like it's Burrow and Mahomes and everyone else sucks.  Trevor Lawrence was so much better this season than he was last season, when he was coached by Urban Meyer.  He can only get better.  Herbert is a really good QB, it's been the coaching that has been the problem.  Allen has been better than all of the other Bills QBs that came after Jim Kelly (except maybe Doug Flutie) and before him.  He's 1000 times better than JP Losman, an aging Drew Bledsoe on the tail end of his career, Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Kyle Orton, Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel.    The Bills even had Thad Lewis and Jeff Tuel start.

Are Mahomes and Burrow the top two QB's in the AFC?  Yes they are, but it's not like the other 14 QBs are mediocre.  Lawrence, Herbert, Allen, Tua (when healthy), Jackson (when healthy) are all pretty good.  The jury is still out on Kenny Pickett.   Ryan Tannehill is the AFC version of Kirk Cousins.  Everyone wants the Deshaun Watson experiment to fail in Cleveland.  Mac Jones was coached by Matt Patricia and Joe Judge.

The 3 QB's that beat Philly: Dalton, Heinecke, Dak

What can SF take from those 3 games?

Nothing at all.

Dalton and Dak beat them without Jalen Hurts, and Dak's game was also without two top defensive backs.  Also, Dalton's game was more about the failings of the Eagles offense - the Saints only scored 13 non-garbage-time points - and Tasum (sp?) Hill came up big.  Purdy isn't the threat on the ground that Hill is.

Heinecke's win was totally legit, but that was a weird game for the Eagles, as they were adjusting to losing their starting NT and got demolished on the ground, which enabled Heinecke to have a good game.  Since then, they've got Linval Joseph and Ndomaken Suh stuffing the middle along with healthy studs all around them, and honestly if Hassan Reddick's name was Micah Parsons, he'd be in the running for DPOY.  He's been that good.

The Eagles haven't seen a team like the 49ers - but the opposite is true too.  Each team presents the best defense that the other has faced all year, and the Eagles probably have the best offense that the 49ers faced.  The 49ers offense is no slouch, so I think it could really go either way, with Eagles being a slight favorite.

I want the 49ers to win, but my gut is telling me the Eagles will pull it out.

Purdy is still a rookie, despite how he's playing, and the Eagles are far & away the most stacked team he's going to face. So it really comes down to if Purdy can maintain his compose & avoid those big moment mistakes a lot of QBs make.

Don't forget that the Bills were also the first team to have to suffer through the Nathan Peterman experience

Find someone who looks at you the way Bill Belichick looks at his former offensive coaches

Yeah, IDK what Belichick's deal is refusing to hire outside his "boys club". But as I said before, I'll take BoB as long as he stays the hell away from any GM decisions.

Unfortunately he is actually an upgrade over Patricia & whatever the hell they were running this past season. Not that  that's in any way a high bar at all.

I just saw a note that the Bears are keeping their prices the same for next year, but that glosses over the fact that they will have 8 regular season and 2 pre-season games, as opposed to this year's 9 and 1. Does anyone know if they charged the same for pre-season as regular season this year?

[this probably belongs in 2023 off-season, but it lines up with this discussion]

It's where I sit.

That “boys club” won 6 SBs, so its reasonable for him to reunite with them.

*Yes I know Brady was more important than the coaches but it’s still not unreasonable.

I don't know if this is a hot take considering the Eagles were the best team all year, but I think they're a bad match-up for San Francisco.

Their defense is just as capable of slowing down/stopping the 49ers offense like the Cowboys defense did last night and the 49ers have shown a surprising susceptibility to teams with QB's who can run well. No team utilized an offense with a running QB better than Philadelphia this season. Their OC created a system centered around Jalen's talents that always has a counter for whatever the opposing defense tries to take away. It puts defenses in a bind because no matter what they choose, the Eagles offense makes it the wrong choice.

Should be an interesting game.

The 49ers really struggled to get the running game going last week, and when Dallas was able to put pressure on Purdy, he looked kind of like a late round draft pick rookie. Philly has an even better defensive front than Dallas does, and probably a better secondary, too. Really, the Niners and Eagles are both pretty similar teams, but Philly has a better, more experienced quarterback. I don’t necessarily think the 49ers can’t win, but they’re going to have to play near perfect to do so. And add all the :censored: now going on with Omenihu, and I really wouldn’t be all that surprised to see the Niners get smoked by the Eagles.

Allen had horrible accuracy as a rookie, followed by some incredibly good accuracy in following years. He struggled again this year. He reminded me a lot this season of a hockey player trying to play through an injury in the playoffs. Just in general, though, how tf do you write off a 26 year old QB as "over the hill"?
