Chicago/Wrigley seems due as well with the renovation project complete (?). Weird that the last Fenway ASG was actually before the Henry ownership and pre-renovations, when the park was still a decaying dump. Considering that Manfred basically said “No comment” to recent events (probably because taking the stance that would align with taking the All-Star Game out of Atlanta wouldn’t go over well with the Hispanics and relatively conservative whites who make up a lot of their player base I imagine), I think he’s saying that era of getting involved with politics is over and it wouldn’t surprise me if Atlanta is awarded an All-Star Game in the near future. DCarp1231
IIRC, Baltimore was poised to get the 2016 ASG until they got shafted in favor of San Diego.

I could see them using the Sounds['] ballpark... I was thinking in the opposite direction. A one-off game could be played in a football stadium that seats 70,000 or more. We have already seen exhibition games in B.C. Place (with apologies to Edgar Martinez) and the Superdome, as well as regular-season games at the London Stadium. And let's not forget that football stadiums as ill-suited to baseball as Exhibition Stadium, the Los Angeles Coliseum, and Mile High Stadium hosted Major League teams for several seasons before new parks were built in those cities. So, if the All-Star Game is going to be held in Nashville, then the place for it is the Titans' stadium. Likewise for the Carolina Panthers' stadium, for the Colts' stadium, and even for the Raiders' stadium (though in Las Vegas the home run derby and the celebrity softball game and all other events would have to take place at night). On the question of the playing surface, Major League Baseball would be able to lay down temporary sod in a stadium that has artificial turf. 12 hours ago, BBTV said: I don’t think they players would be ok with minor-league facilities that lack the amenities... A good point. This issue would not arise at a football stadium with spacious locker rooms.

Colorado worked out pretty well last year, but a situation like that is far from ideal. Other than people wanting their hometown in the spotlight, I honestly don't know why anyone cares where the game is. I get why some people look forward to the game and get into it (though I stopped caring about it 20 years ago) but I don't know why the venue matters. When I was a kid - back before I had cable and when the only time I ever saw AL players and AL stadiums was in baseball cards or the World Series - I always looked forward to the ASG to get to see the uniforms and the different parks. But now, when you can see any player at any time in any stadium - I just don't know if any part of AS Week matters. Yea once that fix I could see the Blue Jays hosting maybe 2025
DoctorWhom
Fenway is long overdue for an ASG. But that aside, I don't believe the Yankees have hosted one in a while. The last one I believe was the old yankee stadium. Camden Yards is also vastly overdue for one as well. Texas also has to be high on the list because of the new stadium. Toronto will probably host 2025 or later once the COVID restriction have all been dropped.

Milwaukee should have been the choice for 2021. After Hank Aaron's passing the All Star Game was supposed to be a tribute to his career and legacy hosted by the franchise he spent the overwhelming majority of his career with, why not move it to city he played in for 14 of his 23 year career? Burkell007
You want the buzz back in a ASG here’s the best idea: Field of Deams. Yea sure it’s small, but charge 2-3x more for tickets and I Guarantee you have a a win-win.

Kooky01
I'd say Wrigley Field or Truist Park (whatever the heck it's called now) should host in 2024 or 2025. Wrigley because it hasn't hosted in so long and Chicago is a pretty big city if you haven't heard. The case for Atlanta being it would've hosted in 2021 had it not been for political reasons I shall not discuss here on this board and I feel it deserves a second chance. Ferdinand Cesarano
I hope that there will be sone more engagement with the question of having the All-Star Game in cities without a Major League team, specifically in large football stadiums. It's not crazy to suppose that fans in Nashville, Charlotte, Indianapolis, and Las Vegas would be highly motivated to come out for such an event, or to speculate that the All-Star Game game would fill those football stadiums, producing crowds of 70,000. Digby
How about we play baseball in stadiums that are meant for baseball? Put it in a football stadium, sure, you get lots and lots of people watching an oddly shaped field from bad angles, who cares? We've tried this before and don't need this again. On a regular basis, we absolutely do not want such a thing. But for a one-off special event, having a slightly weirdly-shaped field is well worth it for the enormous buzz that would be created, and also for the huge turnout (the Dodgers and Red Sox drew 100,000 for an exhibition game in the Coliseum). Also, it would be extremely interesting to see what the organisers in each city would do to impress Major League Baseball, as each group tries to position its city as a home for an expansion team. Generally I like this sort of thing, e.g. NHL outdoor games, but it doesn't work as well for baseball for me. A combination of baseball already having more interesting, idiosyncratic home fields by default in a way that no other sport has, while also looking especially messed up when played wildly out of shape. I'm also not sure the buzz would even hit the way a Winter Classic does or when the NBA plays an ASG in a dome. I don't know if any venue can overcome the fact that the MLB ASG is fundamentally a boring, meaningless game played between "stars" that aren't really stars. Maybe just lean into the Home Run Derby and doing whatever local events that local fans will pay a bunch of money for. I think all the Big Four ASGs are similarly spiraling. I'd be happy to retire the whole concept, personally.
DoctorWhom
The ASG at least had meaning when it determined home field for the world series. So there actually was something at steak. But I understand why they did away with that, since a 86 win WC team having home field over a +100 win team that actually won their division is BS. Dilbert
Id say Texas, Baltimore, Wrigley, Yankee are all due . Tampa, Toronto, and Oakland need to get their stadium situations better before hosting but they are due too.
