McCall
I feel like Carolina's further on the "cheap" side rather than on the "reckless spending" side of the payroll-roster spectrum to be blowing money on an obvious-albatross contract situation such as that of DeShaun Watson. I'm not sure if Cleveland would still be on the hook for anything.) BUTTTTT... Carolina has proved themselves to be one of the dummy teams, so they might actually do that if it was proposed! It was half serious, but a few years ago the Texans gave the Browns a bunch of picks and Brock Osweiler and the Texans got nothing in return except for the favor of getting Brock Osweiler's contract off their books so it's not unprecedented. If I was the Panthers I would not try to solve a mistake like drafting Bryce Young first overall with another mistake like acquiring the biggest contract/pariah in NFL history. Bryce Young stinks, but at least he's cheap. I don't think the Panthers are definable as cheap or reckless. They threw some silly money around before the 2023 season. They are on the Loose Cannon, Meddling Owner spectrum, though, which is way more fun and unpredictable. Just saying if I was the Browns I'd make the call. Every other team is a guaranteed no, but the Panthers are goofy.
SFGiants58
I’m just imagining the Browns contemplating all possible schemes to get rid of Watson. But contracts are pretty iron clad. It blew my mind that baseball players could get contracts that were based on their stats when they were on roids, and then they had to stop juicing so of course their stats declined, but the contracts were still valid even though they were essentially given to a different human being. I can't imagine the union or his agent allowing for there to be an "out". SFGiants58
I’m imagining a Prince Fielder situation where he can’t play football anymore and the contract is insured. I don’t know how insurance works in football contracts, but I can’t imagine it’s that different from baseball. Maybe the Browns encourage him to take up rally car driving or motorcycling in the offseason? When they wrote the CBA, they intentionally tried to eliminate any chance of either foul play or for a guy to "retire", come off the books, then magically find his smile and come back for his old or even a new team. SFGiants58
Yeah, the “insurance fraud” proposal is ridiculous and decidedly grounds for a lawsuit. Quote MLB: Project 32 (Complete), MLB: The Defunct Saga (Complete)

SFGiants58
So Brock Purdy is the guy. It’s a shame he has only one receiver (and it’s not the guy who inked a mega deal), no RB’s, no tight ends, and absolutely zero defense. I wanted the Niners to draft defense, yet they had to do the WR carousel game that wasted everybody’s time and energy. It’s gonna be one of those seasons this year. Dynasty
0-3 doesn't look good at all. I feel like once this Bengals team reached the Super Bowl a few years ago, they began to develop an ego and now just talk too much. They need to consider making changes, whether it's by getting rid of Zac Taylor or revamping the team. They can't keep being this bad so early each season.
