MLB considering Replay

"It's really FOUR words...

NOT GOING TO HAPPEN."

I used one less word. Grammar, schammar.

"I better go take a long walk off a short pier or something."

Some people on this bolard have told me to do just that.

My "Ron Mexico" alias is "Jon Tobago".

Of the major team sports this one needs it the least.

It would also be the one that would need the strictest guidelines-

If they did implement it...

(A big if)

They shouldn't use it for balls & strikes--the only possible good uses would be if the umps were unsure if a runner was safe or if a fielder caught a ball, and only at the umps' discretion--so overall it wouldn't be worth it...

It works for some sports-football, hockey for example...

Comic Sans walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve your type here."

For some reason, i'd like if they used lasers to enforce the strike zone, but replay makes me itch. I LOVE it in football.. but in baseball it seems so inappropriate.

No, i mean, I want several clones made of the American Gladiator named "Lazer" to be positioned all around home plate, and to vote if it was a strike or not.

This is what I meant.

Shouldn't that be "FRICKIN' LAZERS?"

It seems the least likey of the major sports to get it (maybe that has something to do that it's the only one without some form of it, lol), but I think it needs it as much as any.

Umps blow so many calls a game, and often they have a large impact. In most cases it's simple human error, and while I think the MLB should be harder on the umps, your not gonna fix the problem too much as long as humans are still going with one look at a play. But, if you have the technology to fix these errors, then why not do it?

I'm glad I haven't seen anybody mention the integrity of the game so far (I haven't read the article yet, so I don't know about it). What's more integral that doing all that you can to play by the rules you've set?

It would be interesting to see how they'd come up with a way to control it's usuage so as not too delay the game too much.

Another factor would be the strike zone. I've always wondered how ESPN's K-Zone runs, and how accurate it is. If they can really have something like that, I really believe they should.

The KZone can be really inaccurate sometimes. It has to do with the placement of the centerfield camera. I've seen a couple games that it was so off, they jsut stopped using it.

From what I heard, and the article references this a bit, replay would be used for only for fair/foul determinations and for home run determinations. It wouldn't be used on the basepaths or for calling strikes/balls.
