wheateater
Less than 1000 points (even in today's NHL) is not nearly enough tog ain entrance into the NHL Hall of Fame. I know Forsberg's a very talented player, but if he never plays another game in the league, his stats will not be a large enough sample size to warrant a single vote. His career is too short (as it currently stands) and, frankly, he is not much of an ambassador for the NHL if he's considering retiring in Sweden, which might be the only other thing to get him in... rockchalk
As a person, I can't stand McGwire, but he should be in the hall. Watching him play, you always knew that he could open the game up with one swing, and he was a pretty underrated fielder. I think alot of people remember that before he started taking so many "vitamins" he was hitting about .200 during the middle of his career. He was hurt most of the years he was floating around .200 too. Besides, it still takes a lot of timing to hit the balls he hit from 97-2000. That's why, while I hate the guy, I still respect Bonds' ability. I've decided to give up hope for all sports teams I follow
stimpy
Ok I know I bumped this thread pretty badly but I think I got a good round of players for round to of 'Hall of fame or not?"Jose Canseco- I know nobody likes him now, and he is just short of 500 homeruns. Yes or no?Drew BledsoeTom Brady-I know mosty of you will say that he will but I want to know has of now, if he retired today, would his 3 Super Bowl rings be enough? kevja
Canseco -- NO! 462 homers is not almost 500. It's somewhat impressive, but the rest of his numbers are very average. Bledsoe -- If he puts a few more numbers and wins a ring. Yeah, I know he has one from '02. And Steve Young has three rings. but only one counts as "his." Brady -- Yes Williams -- maybe

wheateater
3 Super Bowl rings will be enough to get Brady into Canton, regardless of whether or not he plays another game in the NFL. It would certainly help him to pad his stats over the next 10 years, but as it stands, he's in anyway. Saintsfan
How can there be an argument about McGwire, Pippen or Brady. Big Mac? well everyone else has made the arguments for me, but 600 homers check, WS ring check, gold glove check. Also I think you have to remember the impact of the Home run chase against Sosa against the backdrop of the strike and everything, its one of the things that brought the MLBV back to life and should be recognised.pippen? Well Jordan didn't win a ring every year he played. Pippen was a factor in each of the Bulls championships. Was his reputation enhanced by playing with MJ, maybe, but still only 1 of that Bulls team in the Hall? Thats wrong. And Brady- 3 Superbowls. nuff said. Dunno about the others though. Bledsoe maybe, but he needs a ring of his own I think to really move into the upper echelons. -kj
As much as I can't stand the guy, Forsberg must be considered a lock upon his retirement. He's had a top-notch career, including international play (keep in mind it's not just the NHL Hall of Fame). Even if he plays his last few playing years in Sweden, that shouldn't even be a consideration for keeping him out. Buy some t-shirts and stuff at KJ Shop! jkrdevil
McGwire- Where have all of you guys been the last 2 or so years with this Steroid Scandle. NO, NO, NO. The Baseball Writers will not put him in certaintly not on the first ballot. Sure he hit close to 600 home runs, but a vast majority of them are in question. Yes, he hit 49 Home Runs his rookie year, but 1 year doesn't make you a Hall of Famer. Brady Anderson hit 50 HR one year is he a hall of famer. All the other years are in question. McGwire has given a black eye to baseball and with how traditional the writers who vote are he's not going to get 70 percent. Maybe after he's been on the ballot for many year. But not now, Jim Rice hasn't gotten in, despite a public outcry every year, mainly due to him having words with the press. McGwire will not get in. Canseco- Not after his bookForsberg- Yes, He's been one of the NHL's biggest stars. Plays both sides of the puck. I could see him getting in.Brady- As of now yes. Bernie Williams- Maybe. Played Centerfield for the World Championship Yankees. Has the most hits in Yankees history, which is impressive when you look at the players they had, we aren't talking about TB Devil Rays history. Will be close to 2,500 hits. Never been accused of taking steroids. Not a power guy, but the numbers for power in this era are in question. Right now I think he is like Mattingly and his Manager Joe Torre and just fall a bit short.

jkrdevil
I was watching a rooting for him and 98 and I was at my tv watching thursday and I have seen the reaction for hall of fame voters. He's not getting in especially on the first ballot. On Thursday he came as close as someone can of pleading the 5th. In fact one congressman asked him point blank if he was pleading the 5th and he refused to answer that question. Again, Jim Rice has been held out for not getting along with the press. McGwire is no going to get in, especially on the first ballot. You have writers who refuse to vote for people on the first ballot no matter how good they are. That combined with this and he won't get the 70% needed to get in the first time if ever.
