DEAD!
Great move by the Q, at $3 million. Now is it about time the league change it's official name? For example: QMJHL: Quebec Martitime Junior Hockey League (Stole that from Alex J. Walling from tsn.ca)

OMMF
And now, one gone.St John's falls from graceBtw, their team name? The Fog Devils. I don't know how that one slipped past us.
Cashcleaner
How about Quebec-Atlantic Hockey League?Either way, the league itself is looking in really good shape with the amount of teams they have now. Maybe it is time for a name change? 18 teams? That's nay bad at all.
DMadSport
Sour Grapes??Judging from the info in the column, it wasn't as if the Fog Devils' ownership didn't try to strike a lease deal with Mile One Stadium. The arena's managers wanted the sweet end of the deal--perhaps too sweet of an end if they wanted a share of team merchandise sales. It does sound like sour grapes to me if they won't let someone with purely good intentions set up their new team in Mile One, all because the arena group didn't get the franchise. Now, it looks like Mile One will be a white elephant for at least next winter.About that nickname... it's okay, but instead of something that sounds so AF2-ish, something unique to the area would've been good. How about the St John's Signals? I suggest this because Signal Hill is near the city, and that was where the first wireless trans-oceanic telegraph message was sent (morse code letter S, or 3 dots... which would've gone well as a secondary logo). Actually I made a concept for an NHL team to be called the Halifax Signals, but I was just thinking lighthouses and some obscure idea about "signaling progress for the league" or something. I dunno. It was yellow and orange. I don't think it was very good.

I've watched that thing so many times hoping the logo would be at the end of it and it never was. At least I know now to stop watching it.Edit: 28th it is with guest Michael Ryder in attendance. 10:30am at Studio 12 at the Avalon Mall. Anyone nearby for pics and reports?
