KennyRock Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I drew up a concept for a Mets alternate, one I think that'd be better than the black monstrosities. The jersey is made up of the two traditional Met colors, and writes out "Metropolitains" for the first time, while the pants pay homage to the uni's of the 86 champion Mets. C&C would be awesome!P.S. How can I fix the quality of the image? DEAD! Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 It's good for a first concept. I think that putting the entire "Metropolitans" script is interesting (in a good way) I saw, I came, I left.
JamesCraven Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Spell check on the long name of the Mets in Aisle 15457, please![And no, that's NOT going to be the next pick-on-JamesCraven-thing.] "I better go take a long walk off a short pier or something."Some people on this bolard have told me to do just that.My "Ron Mexico" alias is "Jon Tobago".
Stampman Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Nice look, I take it you're working in Paint--is so--save the image as a png file--a bit more byte wise--but cleaner, and you should still be able to upload it... Comic Sans walks into a bar, and the bartender says, "Sorry, we don't serve your type here."

slapshot Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 I think the script font you chose is too delicate for a uniform...try to find one that's a little bolder, like Kauffman (yes, almost like the Royals' stadium ). And it should be either curved or slanted, so it can be made taller but still fit on the front of the jersey. "Mets" works because it's a short name, and allows itself to be made larger on the jersey without distortion. A long name like "Metropolitans" would have to either be a condensed script font (if any exist), or a non-script font, similar to San Francisco on its road jersey.Add a white outline around the orange text. With the exception of the hat (because it's so recognizable), orange is dark enough to become a little hard to read directly on the lighter blue of the Mets. If it were navy blue, it would be less of a problem. Back-to-Back Fatal Forty Champion 2015 & 2016
andrewharrington Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 i agree with jp. i think an arc name would be really nice, with a white outline. also, if youre working in illustrator, when youre done, just go to file and select save for web. you can then save it as a .gif, .png, or anything else. I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry [The postings on this site are my own and do not necessarily represent the position, strategy or opinions of adidas and/or its brands.]
KennyRock Posted December 13, 2004 Author Posted December 13, 2004 Changed to Kauffman, slanted it, and gave it a white outline - thanks for the advice! The_Admiral Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Try "Metropolitans" slanting upward in orange, with a capital M resembling the style of the G in the NY Giants, then put the Dodgers tail on the S. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
slapshot Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 That looks better now, it's more legible.I think you might have misunderstood my comment about slanting the text. I didn't mean to slant it so it looks italic...Kauffman is already a script font, so it has it's own slant. I mean angle it up, from lower left to upper right, similar to the Cardinals. Angle it so the bottom of the M is even with the thrid button down, and so the s ends up nar the armpit height, a little higher than where you have it now. BBTV Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 First time I've ever seen Metropolitans on a jersey. Cool idea. I'd suggest trying to match the "Mets" script font that is on their regular jersey. If not matching the font, at least matching the "M". Looks good, though. KennyRock Posted December 15, 2004 Author Posted December 15, 2004 Okay, I think I got the script position just about right this time - maybe I'll change it up if I can find the actual Mets font down the road...
