Worst looking NFL uniforms?

Recommended Posts

Worst Uniforms: Bengals and Bills.

The rest of the league:

Packers: Classic. Simple. Keep 'em as is. I liked the less shiny yellow pants of years ago however.

Vikings: Keep 'em as is. No purple pants. The all white on the road looks just fine.

Bears: Classic.

Lions: Lose the black. Use the throwbacks full time with the Leapin' Lions on the helmet sans stripes.

Cowboys: White is fine. Keep the pants the blue-ish silver. Bring back the old 70s blue jerseys, but keep the pants consistent. No blue-ish silver and silver.

Redskins: Yellow pants with the maroon jersey. White w/maroon pants should stay.

Eagles: Grey pants.

Giants: Nice retro look. Never wear the red alt. ever again.

Pathers: Blue full time at home. Black as the alt.

Buccaneers: Maybe the best in the league. Change nothing. The pewter pants rock.

Saints: Classic look. Maybe black pants on the road.

Falcons: Red with grey pants. Lose the stupid looking red, white and black swirl sleeves.

Seahawks: I like the newer look. However, go with white pants with both the dark and white jerseys and this would be a winner. The all blue look is too much blue.

Rams: Go back to yellow. Lose the gold.

49ers: Nice as is.

Cardinals: Great helmet. Update the home reds a bit.

Steelers: Great home look (although I like the old number font). I know this might be blasphemous to the Steeler faithful, but wear black pants with yellow striping on the road with the white jerseys.

Ravens: Black is the color of a raven. Black with purple highlights/stripes with white pants at home and black pants with the white jersey on the road. No all black look.

Browns: Classic. Don't change a thing. And I might be in the minority, but I like the Brian Sipe era orange pants every once in awhile. I think they look great with the home brown jerseys.

Bengals: Awful. Could work if they get rid of the white stripe down the side on the black jerseys. Far too much going on here. You need sunglasses to watch 'em.

Patriots: This look has grown on me. I like both home and road.

Bills: As mentioned up top, one of the worst. Pick one color blue and stick with it. Lose the shoulder blue crap on the white/roads.

NY Jets: I love the Jets look. White/White, Green/White, Green/Green, White/Green, whatever. It works. I like that there is no black outline. I could not stand the 80s green helmets and jerseys with black on 'em.

Dolphins: I like it, but wear the aqua jersey more. Don't ever wear the orange alt. again.

Jaguars: They are all over the map. Stay with the teal seeing as no one else has it. Teal w/white pants at home. New road look isn't bad, but too much black now.

Colts: I like the blue and white and no other color look. A nice tribute to the history of the Colt franchise from Baltimore to Indy.

Texans: I really like the Texans uniforms, both home and road. The red jersey has really grown on me. I think it should be the home uniform with the blue being the alt.

Titans: I like the helmet. Like the Bills, lose the shoulder color thing. Go with one of the blues. Hell, keep both the blues, but use one of 'em as an accent, number outline or stripe.

Raiders: Classic. Do nothing.

Broncos: Orange. Make the blue the alt.

Chiefs: Add black trim. Hey, the helmet has black around the logo but no yellow. Black would work here.

Chargers: Either Dan Fouts era blue and yellow pants or the powder puff blues.

Tampa Bay And Buffalo.

if you mean tampa bay's jersey is bad..................ohhh its on like Donkey Kong

imo the bucs look the 49ers rip-offs: red jersey, goldish pants and helmet, with black trim, and a primaraly red logo. all the bucs need to do in order to get a perfect uni is use the black fasion jersey as the primary home jersey, and to use the bucco bruce unis as throwbacks once a year.

throwbacks once a year yes. black jerseys as alts, yes. blacks as primary home uniforms. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO :cursing::cursing::cursing: how much more clear can i make it. NO

maby explain WHY black for full time is a bad idea instead of going off and rantting.

anyway, imo the worst unis in the leauge belong to buffalo, with cincy a close second.

here is waht i would like to see for each team:

bills- scrap everything, and go with these. its an updated version of their 1962 unis.

bufbills.gif

dolphins- a perfect update from what they had. the only thing i would like to see is a navy alt. instead of orange.

patriots- flying elvis is fine. leave pat in the past. the unis are perfect, dirty whites and all!

jets- go back to the gang green unis and logo. at least that logo actually included a jet.

ravens- scrap the white pants. wear the black ones 100% of the time. lose the "B" from the pants and add a triple stripe desighn of white-purple-white. replace the shield on the sleaves with this: balrav.gif.

replace the raven head on the helmet with this version: balrav2.gif

bengals- the only thing on the current unis that should remain untouched is the helmet. the unis need to look something like this: cinbengals.GIF

browns- firts, close the stripping on the home sleaves to match the white jersey. now they can use one pair of white pants. next, scrap the orange jersey. wear the orange pants only when wearing the white jersey.

steelers- primary unis are fine as is. would like to see a yellow alt. with black pants.

texans- use teh red alt. as the primary home jersey. when wearing teh blue alt. wear blue pants.

colts- i like their recent updates, alough the grey facemask was dumb. go back to a blue facemask. wear the blue throwback helmet with the throwback unis.

jags- if they could, they should use these unis: jackjaguars94.jpg

titans- unis are fine as is. just change the red stars in the logo to columbia blue.

broncos- use the orange alts. as the primary home jersys, and wear the navy pants with the alt. navy jersey.

chiefs- all they need is some black oulining on the jerseys and pants.

raiders- home uni is perfcet. for the road unis i would ditch the white jersys and use the silver fasion jersey full time. the raiders are the (or were) the nfl's bad guys. bad guys dont wear white.

chargers- return to the powder blues full time. use the white pants most of the time, but use the yellow pants every now and then. for an alt. wear a yellow jersey based on the road powder blues. wear this yellow jersey with yelllow pants.

cowboys- first, pick one silver and one blue. then use the updated double stars as the primary home and road unis. use the throwback double stars as the alts.

giants- the unis are perfect. i even like the red jerseys and grey pants.

eagles- unis are fine. wouldnt mind a slightly lighter green though.

redskins- use the spear unis as the full time home unis and create a white version for the road.

bears- everything is perfcet. i even like the mis-matched throwbacks.

lions- go back to what they had before they added black. also, those throwbacks are some of the best alts. in the leauge (just to plain to be worn on a regular basses).

packers- perfect unis. wouldnt mind seeing the 75th anniversery throwbacks as the regular alts. though.

vikings- the unis are fine as they are. wouldnt mind seeing the viking head updated though.

falcons- the switch to red put these unis in the "perfect" collum.

panthers- just use the carolina blue as the primary home jersey.

saints- just use the gold pants all the time and u have a perfect uni.

bucs- as said before, wear the black fasion jerseys as the primary home jeresys. on the white jeresys make the collar and sleave stripes red, and switch teh red and black in the #'s.

cardinals- something like this: azcards.gif

rams- fine as is. just go back to the wordmark of the previous unis.

49ers- like the dolphins, a perfcet update. use the montana-era unis as the regular alts.

seahawks- another perfcet update. wear all blue at home, all whit eon teh road, and wear a lime green jersey with blue pants for the alt. also, have teh seahawk logo on teh sleaves rap around.

ok let me explain. first off its been pointed out black in florida is suicidal. second, the black trend will soon die (i hope). yes as an alternate its ok, but as a primary dosent work.accually, black jerseys would be kick ass as an alt but permanent wont work. plus when you way that the jerseys are just rip offs of the 49ers, well two things, watch a 49ers bucs game and you will see how different they really are. theres no way youll get the two mixed up. second (this is just a fan thing) tampa bay is undefeated against san francisco when wearing the red jerseys. but, so many teams wear black nowadays i wouldnt want to see Tampa Bay go black. plus it kind of conflicts with the rest of the uniform where the red compliments it. ehhh ill explain why later

Dude, you are high. :D

may be :D

seriously, i just really like these. the jags are a fairly new team, and imo could get away with doing something like this. as for the comment that they cant use them because of the lawsuit, i forgot about that. however i have a solution! take the unis above, and replace the jag on teh jerseys with the current jag on the jeresys the have now. for the helmet, just wear the one they have now.

as for the bucs thing, i mentioned that during teh hotter mounths the bucs would wear the whites all teh time, like dallas. when it cools down the would go to black at home and white on the road. as for red being dominant on the white jerseys, i suggested that the red and black be swapped to compliment the change to the black home jerseys.

Absolute worst: Bills. I actually hope the Bills make the playoffs so that a national audience will be tuning in to witness the monstrocities. I never thought I'd long for the day of their previous unis, but now....

The Bills look like they belong to some rival league circa the 1950s. They make me want to puke. :puke: Their current look does not have one redeeming quality. The navy and royal blue are too, too close together. I hate the piping. The shoulder panels. The helter-skelter side panels that don't really flow together well (jerseys & pants). The Bill's current look is too busy and quite frankly, ugly.

So, my worst ranking would be:

  • Bills : see above
  • Cardinals : desperately need modernization
  • Bengals : older unis far superior...these are not worthy of semi-pro league
  • Falcons : hate the sleeve, sleeve logo needs to be larger, numbers more dramatic
  • Jets : they need help...most boring behind only the Cards, with the Colts not far behind

Bills: I don't mind the dark blues quite as much, but the whites are just disgusting.

Bengals: Fix the white stripe and the numbers and they would be fine, but the thing is they are two BIG features of the unis.

Giants: I hate the reds.

Seahawks: I keep going back and forth with them, sometimes I don't mind the AOC, but overall I prefer the blue jersey/white pant combo and the white jersey/blue pants look.

Panthers: Silver pants and white pants??? Pick one and go with it.

Jags: too much black.

Question: Merrill Reese, the legendary Eagles announcer always disses the eagles green pants, saying they make them look slow. Do you think that? Do you prefer the all white combo for the eagles like Merrill does (the fast set, as he calls them) OR do you like the green pants with the white jersey?

I prefer the all whites, especially when they play in a dome, with the green pants as a change-up every now and then.

Personally, I really like the Eagle's green pants (vs. the Jets). I think their particular shade makes them look good. I much prefer them over all-whites.

If there was one thing I could do to the Eagles, it would be to have them wear silver pants with their green jerseys. I don't mind their current look, and maybe it's a nastalga thing, but I thought the silver really complemented the green, and it further disguishes them from the Jets, who don't wear silver.

I prefer the all whites. Too bad we wont see them this year other than the preseason. I think we put em away after the 0-2 start in em last yr.

Best quote ever on an Eagles broadcast. Merrill Reese talking to Mike Quick. "Mike, I just don't like the Eagles in green pants. I wouldn't even like you in green pants". A classic.

As far as other teams go, did the Bills have a local kindergarten get construction paper of many colors and let them go to town? Nothing else could explain that dubious mismatch of color. At least even if they make the playoffs we won't get to see the hideous home jerseys again after tomorrow.

But we're subject to the ugliest away uniforms in the league. It's a no-win situation

vikings - some change won't hurt. i think they have undergone some subtle changes especially to the yellow by going with a darker shade. the only change i would suggest is going with a white jersey that matches the template of the colored jersey.

I LOVE the Vikings' white jersey. If anything, I say change their dark jersey to match the white template.

I'd be interested to see a silver pants combo for the Eagles. I wonder if anyone on here has/could make one. I would but, well... I suck at actually drawing concepts. :P

I agree with the common belief that the Bengals and Bills have the worst uniforms. I'll say bills, because I still love the bengals helmet (but NOBODY this side of Oregon can touch the Bengals for bad jerseys)

Others:

Packers: Pretty solid and traditional. No major changes should ever take place.

Vikings: Good update a few years back--adding yellow outlines to the numbers was key. I would use purple pants with the white jersey. I'd also put the viking head logo on the helmet.

Bears: These are pretty solid and traditional. I'd keep 'em.

Lions: I prefer their previous unis, but I don't mind these. I don't dislike the added black as much as most.

Cowboys: I would rather see the dark jersey have the white jersey's template and only the lighter of the blues used.

Eagles: Get rid of the black alternate. Actually, I'd like to get rid of all the black and go with green and silver, like the Cunningham days. I like the old wings better than the new ones, though I prefer the current sleeve logo.

Giants: I like these uniforms. I'd go with some red trim around the numbers on the darks. Blue facemasks as well.

Pathers: Full overhaul needed. I don't like the logo or the jerseys. Third worst after Bills and Bengals.

Buccaneers: I LOVED the old uniforms and still do. I wish they'd never changed. That said, what they changed to is some of the best in the league.

Saints: Good unis. I'd keep them the same.

Falcons: I can't stand the three-toned sleeves and have not really warmed up to the logo. I'd go back to the very very simple design of the 1990s.

Seahawks: These are my new favorite uniforms. It took me a while to warm up to them, but I love them now (unusual for me to like uniforms with different-colored sleeves). Actually I would make the sleeves match the rest of the jersey and I'd make the green darker--but I still love these uniforms.

Rams: Good stuff.

49ers: Tood busy. Their old uniform needed a change, but I'd go somewhere between the 1980s and what they have now.

Cardinals: I love these uniforms and hope they don't have a major change. I don't like the AZ flag on the sleeve. Also, I'd like to see a red facemask.

Steelers: Decent, but prefer the old number font. Also, I'd like to see the logo on both sides of the helmet.

Ravens: I'm not real fond of these, but I defniately like the current helmet.

Browns: Get rid of the orage jersey. Otherwise these classics should not be touched. Don't put logos on the helmets.

Bengals: Go back to the old. They were innovative (when introduced, anyway) without being gawdy. Speaking of gawdy, I can't even watch that team play.

Patriots: I liked the old red jersey, but this is a decent look. I liked the originals (when they first made the change, but with outlines on the shoulder numbers) better than these. That's what I'd like to see.

Bills: Why, why why?

NY Jets: I liked the old jets look of the earl 1990s. I wish it was stilll around.

Dolphins: These are solid.

Jaguars: I liked their original jerseys and feel they have stressed black too much since then. I never liked the helmet. Perhaps the helmet coudl be teal.

Colts: These were my favorite uniforms before the Seattle change. The only change I would make is going back to blue masks.

Texans: Well done. I would expect much worse from a new team.

Titans: I like the colors, but not the goofy-colored shoulders. Good identity overall, but poor execution of the uniforms.

Raiders: Tremendous.

Broncos: Finally got used to the helmet, but don't like the orange side panels coming up to the shouders--too Nike.

Chargers: Stay where you are chargers--avoid the urge to go to power. Even if you go to powder, avoid, at all costs, the urge to put numbers on the helmets.

NE: Its ok, a little busy. The urge to go back to Pat I disagree with.

MIA:Ditch the alternate other than that solid. Good colour scheme. I do love that prototype helmet thats been floating around though.

NYJ:Dont like the pickle look, but its good. However the old green days may be better. A new logo too?

BUF:Disgusting

CIN:Almsot as disgusting as buffalo. Keep the helmet its cool but the jersyes are just all around awful.

CLE: Go orange, brown, orange more often, and ditch the orange jersey. No logos ever on that helmet.

PIT:Pretty cool unis, and keep the logo on one side. The font was better before, and names in yellow isnt the best

BAL:A hard one for sure. The logo is better than the crest IMO. Speaking of those why do you have so many logos?anyways I dont like the all white. Maybe more yellow outlines because it gets real lost.

IND: Either double up the helmet stripe OR single up the stripe on the pants, and white jersey, also go back to blue facemask

HOU:pretty good, cool logo, i dont like the name that much(like that matters)

TEN:Its ok, but id like to maybe see new helmet colour, try the alternate on the helmet. it could be better

JAX:more teal, its unique. less black its not.

KC:I dont really like these, id like to see yellow somewhere on the helmet. The shade of red, just looks sort of bad with the white and yellow but thats the scheme and its traditional..

OAK:One of the if not the best of them all

DEN:The orange is a good alternate but thats it. the helmet stripe thing is nasty. The alternate logo is ugly. The side panels are sot of ugly

SD: Theyre beautiful, and consistant. However the powders great and unique, and i love the numbers on the helmets. Either would work but no mix. Go one or the other.

NYG:My god keep those red alternates away. Other than that pretty decent

DAL:If I had my way the thanksgiving unis they wore this year would be their permanents because those are absolutely amazing. However too much tradition. But keep a consistant blue, its so unorganized

PHI:I may be in the minority but I HATE the wings on the helmets, looks so dumb. Plus the black alternate is dumb, does everyone has to have a black uni now?

WSH:Its ok but I love the spear, Id go with that

GB:See Oakland comments. Only thing would maybe having a yellow green outling along numbers on green jersey and yellow white on white jerseys. Maybe

MIN: I think the dual designs for home, away jerseys works for them. Its good not great but I dont see much way in improving

CHI:not that consistant but it looks real sharp and its really traditional

DET:The logo is great, the black isnt the best but they dont overdo it with black jerseys and pants like other teams.

ATL:Too busy. A red helmet maybe?

CAR:Ditch the silver. Go with the blue jersey.

NO:Not very consistant. The colour scheme is great, they could be awesome

TB:I like the logos they have. These are pretty good. Do not go back to the orangesicles, bucco bruse days.

SEA: Its unique. The logo is too small on the sleeves. I like the change from the silver helmet days but the design could be better.Sometimes I say, "Hmmm thats growing on me". Sometimes it looks like a giant eye sore.

STL:Going back to blue yellow would be good. However the Blue gold design looks pretty kick ass too, I like the logo.

ARZ: Id like to try a modernization for the new stadium. No more blue, no more flag.

SF:I think these look sor of ugly now. Maybe its the team playing in them, I dont know. Dont go back to all whites again, but Id like to see a change

Since this is now grades on all 32 teams' uniforms, here they are:

ALL TEAMS: NO WHITE JERSEYS AND PANTS TOGETHER, EVER, FOR ANY REASON. And think real hard before doing the monochrome thing.

MOST TEAMS: Black shoes make you look dumpy and slow (see the previous all-white comment). It might be appropriate for those teams that should look dumpy and slow -- say, the Bears. All-black socks, however -- for that matter, all one-color non-white socks -- make the team look as if they're running around in dress socks.

ARIZONA: Both cardinal and white jerseys need fixing; the cardinal jerseys are too plain, and the white jerseys have too much going on. Keep the helmets (but join the 2000s and use a cardinal facemask), but start over on the jerseys.

ATLANTA: They frankly looked better two uniforms (red jerseys, gray pants) ago. So the red jersey is good; the white pants are not. I'd go with the black pants full-time.

BALTIMORE: After the previous comment about the color of ravens, I guess I agree. Besides, all-black seems to be appropriate for that bunch of thugs.

BUFFALO: What is the emoticon for projectile vomiting? I'd go with an updated version of the O.J. era uniforms (and the white helmets).

CAROLINA: Black is not a color I think of when I ponder the Carolinas. Dump the black jerseys and go with the blue jerseys.

DA BEARS: Looks good, but due to the disappearing sleeve, move the numbers to the shoulders.

CINCINNATI: Bad, but fixable. Get rid of the weird white panels on the jerseys. Replace the white pants with orange pants. Use the orange pants with the black jerseys and the black pants with the white or orange jerseys.

CLEVELAND: Orange jerseys. Why? Use the white pants with the brown jerseys, and the orange pants with the white jerseys.

JERRY'S BOYS: Strangely, I don't mind the three shades of silver. I preferred royal blue to navy blue, Super Bowl V and those other dark-jersey games notwithstanding. I'd drop one of the three silvers, however, and at least have the helmets and "road" pants (the pants with the blue jerseys) match.

DENVER: I preferred the orange look. If you're going to have the current look, on the white jerseys change the stripe to orange, so you can use the navy pants with them.

DETROIT: A change for the worse. They could have used navy blue as an accent color, and that at least would have made more sense (given the light shade of Columbia Blue). I liked the one-season blue pants, but not with gray socks. I like the throwbacks, but they'd get very dull all the time.

THE REAL AMERICA'S TEAM: I'm actually not a fan of these jerseys, because I'm not a fan of yellow, period. If it were up to me, I'd go with green helmets, yellow pants with the green jerseys, and green pants with the white jerseys.

HOUSTON: Got it right the first time.

INDIANAPOLIS: These could stand complete updating. Gray facemasks are not an improvement.

JACKSONVILLE: The black pants look good, but are they appropriate? Did anyone think about gold pants with the teal jerseys?

KANSAS CITY: Touch not.

MIAMI: Jimmy Johnson improved that which did not need improvement (the navy shadow numbers, which now look most dated). The orange jerseys are an abomination. Aqua jerseys with white pants, white jerseys with aqua pants.

HEY RANDY, THE GAME'S NOT OVER: Home and away jerseys that don't match in design bug me. Either go with the diagonal stripes for both, or neither. Purple pants look better with the white jerseys. I assume they will fix the shade-of-purple issue when they get an actual stadium without weird lighting.

NEW ENGLAND: They want an alternate, and they come up with silver? Red would look good, except for the "redcoats" issue.

NEW ORLEANS: They've made changes since the Jim Mora era began, and they actually all look good. (Well, maybe not the gold jerseys.) I'd keep the current home look, and go with black pants with the white jerseys, and touch nothing else.

NEW YORK GIANTS: Red jerseys. Why? Blue pants, perhaps, with the white jerseys, and it wouldn't kill you to add the NY logo on the bicep.

J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! What color were Joe Namath's shoes? Everything else looks good.

OAKLAND/LOS ANGELES/OAKLAND: How about this for picky -- a serif font (like they used in the early '70s) would look better on the name panels. I'd go with black facemasks too, and leave the rest as is.

PHILADELPHIA: Merrill Reese is wrong. (Well, maybe not about Mike Quick.) But I wouldn't mind silver pants with the green jerseys. I see no reason for having black jerseys.

PITTSBURGH: Looks great as is. If using black pants with the white jerseys (NO GOLD JERSEYS!), do not add a stripe; just add the logo at the hip.

CLEVELAND/LOS ANGELES/ANAHEIM/ST. LOUIS: Busy white jerseys, but they otherwise look good. (But I'd remove the stripes from the blue pants. Color needs to be added to white pants, not necessarily to colored pants.)

SAN DIEGO: Current look is bad. Powder blue isn't good either. The Fouts-era look (including white at home) was best.

SAN FRANCISCO: Perhaps red pants with the white jerseys. But otherwise they're good, and this is a fine, fine color combination.

SEATTLE: These jerseys fixed something that was not broken. Go back to the old ones, with blue pants to go with the white jerseys.

TAMPA BAY: Ditch the white pants, and they're perfect.

TENNESSEE: I don't like the hockey-style contrasting shoulder. Within the scheme, though, these look good.

WASHINGTON: Probably need updating (i.e. the big side stripes), but the basic scheme looks good.

I agree about the same color jersey and pants (any color). Stop it with the pajama look!

Alot of NFL teams are starting to get that tacky uniform look that alot of the NHL teams have had for many years now.

Keep it simple and Classic Looking!
