Bad NFL: logos

What's strange to me is that I've been a Cardinals fan a lot longer than most of the members on this board have been alive (I've been a fan since '69), and yet so many of you think that it's an untouchable logo. I've been pushing for years (decades, actually) to add MORE Black to the color scheme, yet they practically took it all out for the 1996 season. Makes me crazy. Of all the teams who SHOULD have Black (cardinal birds are Red and Black ya know), they emphasize Red and White.

And coming from a fan who has seen more pain following a team than anyone...

...it's time for an update. They're almost always last in merchandise sales in all four leagues. I would even be open to a nickname change - as long as it's something bird-like - like the Firebirds.

Im no buc fan as u are, but Bucco Bruce represented Steve Spurrier disasters and 0-16 seasons, the organization didnt even allow the NFL to display the logo alongside other retro logos on the NFL website during Thanksgiving. Plus, the logo they have now is PERFECT. The skull, ship, swords, color scheme, its brilliant...and really badass.

:D oh yeah. i totally agree. and i was pissed on thanksgiving when the old logo wasnt on NFL.com. but its kinda like the playoff teams of a few years ago and the creamsicle teams arent even the same franchise. i would just like to see a connection between the past and present. the only problem with bucco bruce is that orange, or florida orange, and lighter orange obviously dosent work togather. :D

It was Light Orange ("Florida Orange") and RED...but I know what you meant.

I'm constantly astounded by the desire to bring Bucco Bruce back...WAY back in 1997 (!) when the Bucs made the change, it seemed like an overwhelming majority of fans were happy as all get-out to put that logo and color-scheme to rest forever. Now, that "retro" seems to be all the craze, all these people want it back.

It makes me want to scream.

I don't necessarily want to see Bucco Bruce come back, however I was rather disappointed when Tampa Bay elected to minimize drastically the use of Florida Orange. It was a unique and defining color for the team. And while many will equate the "creamsicle Bucs" with the 0-14 team, I will always equate it with Lee Roy Selmon, Ricky Bell, Doug Williams and the rest of that remarkable 1979 team that fell 3 Frank Corral field goals and a monsoon short of the Super Bowl.

Yeah, that was unbelievable...like, one season after they won their FIRST game, they played the Rams for the NFC Title. Makes us Cardinals fans nuts too. Seems like everyone's been there except the Cards, and the Cardinals have been around longer than any team in football. Embarrassing.

The Orange the Bucs are using now is quite a bit different than the former color (as is the Red), but it is a nice touch to have kept some sort of Orange in there.

imo bucco bruce was the singal worst logo ever in professional football. however i think the bucs should at least let him appear on nfl.com for thanksgiving and maby wear a throwback once or twice.

Bucco Bruce has been buried and should stay that way. The Bucs' identity is perfect.

And they won a SB in it, so they ain't changin' anytime soon. Nor should they.

for a throwback once every couple of years it would be ok. but ya, he will never be the primary logo ever again.

believe this or not, but Warren Sapp and the team were contimplating using the old uniforms for the super bowl vs oakland. wheather that went any further than a contimplation, or if the NFL would have even allowed it, i dunno

Horsepoop.

If the Patriots can resurrect Pat every few years, there's no reason Bucco can't make an appearance now & then either.

Ok I stand by both my picks. I didn't say the Fleur de Lis doesn't represent France or Saints, but its hardly a striking representation of saints. And in all my time in the catholic Church, I have never seen a 'Fleur-De-Lis' within the Church.

And come on. the Flying Elvis is bad. You all know it. If it was produced toda there would be 23 pages of comments saying how plop it is. You all know that.

Sheesh!

No Fleur-de-lis' in a Catholic church?! Man, you need to look more carefully. It's no guarantee, but they're usually in the church's flag, or in tiles on the floor, or etched into the walls, or on the Bishop's crest. I've yet to go to a Church that hasn't had them. I don't mean to say that every church DOES, but they're definitely still there...

That said, I can't stand the Redskins logo... a brave with feathers in his hair.... inside a circle with more feathers on it? Huh?!
