LEWJ
Here is WA Designs official new logo package, comments and criticism are encouraged.Blue is my color so I wanted to incorperate it into the new look. Silver, Blue and White are the primary colors. The different shades of blue are; Navy, Royal Blue, Columbia Blue & Tiger Blue.*Colors on the smaller star are meant to be interchangable. For comparison's sake ANYBODY KNOW THE WEB ADDRESS FOR THE WA DESIGNS??? | BROWNS | BUCKEYES | CAVALIERS | INDIANS |

quantum
This is a general observation that applies in this situation. The most successful logos I've seen designers use are unique through design, yet simplistic in elements. For example, Nitroseed uses a unique design but doesn't try to demonstrate all his capabilities within the one logo. I think the thing to do is create a unique, clever logo with minimal graphic effects. "One of my concerns is shysters show up and take advantage of people's good will and generosity". slapshot
Much better. The simplification has helped a lot, and the three are much more consistent now. I'm still not guite feeling the bottom right one, I think the WA gets a little lost in the lighter shapes of the star. You might need a thicker outline around the WA, or make the lighter shades of the star darker (a medium gray would still be lighter than the dark shades, but the WA would stand out much more). These also look much better now that you've minimized the colors. These would all work well in black and white or color, because they don't rely on color so much for legibility. The letterspacing of "Designs" still looks awkward. Look at the spaces between E-S and I-G. Those gaps jump out compared to the tighter kerning of the other letters. Again, it's probably due to the font...the upper serifs are at sharper angles than the bottom ones, and this creates tapered letterspacing which makes the inconsistency really stand out. iDonovan
The work is nice, and looks good....but I feel to many people are using the star in there logos already
shiznit1083
I'll be perfectly honest: I'm not a big fan of it at all. It's pretty boring with no real pop to it. It doesn't mean it has to be elaborate. It can be very simple yet extremely effective. This isn't really pleasing, and the star just makes it boring and unoriginal, while the gradients on the grey make it look cheesy. You're clearly capable of better work than this. This doesn't exactly capture your style. My advice, start from scratch and stay consistent.
paynomind
I agree with shiz. You are better than this. This is too generic and plain. Ditch the star.Start fresh with a large piece of paper and a pencil. See what comes out. NCFA Sunset Beach Tech - Octopi ΓΔΒ! Nick 1733
well JP, I'll fix the DESIGNS problem with the spacing, probably make it a custon font so it looks right. I don't think I'll by moving away from the star just yet since I've been using it for so long. Thanks to everyone for all your input. slapshot
The others have a point as well. You start getting too fixated on the star, and it's somewhat limiting, aside from the fact you won't stand out because so many others have their personal logos centered around a star theme. You have shown a lot of good progression with this project. If you used this energy and focus from the start with a fresh, new logo, you might be surprised with what you come up with. I don't think if you start over that your work will have been in vain...you've received a lot of good input from a lot of people, and using their critiques and tips, I think you can come up with something really creative. Don't be afraid to scrap it and start anew because you want to keep the star in there at all costs. Maybe you can find a way to have incorporate star-like characteristics in there subtly.Like others have said, you have had some really cool ideas and concepts, this logo doesn't necessarily reflect how interesting some of your ideas have been. When you bog yourself down to specific imagery, it subconsciously can stifle creativity. Maybe step back from this for a few days, and come back to it. You might have new ideas with where you want to take your new personal image. "Thinking outside the box" might be a very corporate cliché, but it can give you unexpected but very satisfying results. Nick 1733
Alright, plus I need a new monitor, I can't see the colors right.Everything darker than a royal blue looks pretty much black to me.I'll get out my drawing pad and see what I can come up with. andrewharrington
i agree with jp about demonized and letter spacing. its okay for acronyms, but it looks very inconsistent as an entire word. as for the fresh idea thing, i think you certainly can come up with something great and original. when i did it, i started with my initials in a font called alba, modified the letters a little, and looked again. i noticed the curled ends could resemble something and i thought deeper about how much i like rain and nature and the umbrella logo i use came out of it. i think its a 3 color logo, and the presentation one has extra shadows added to it for depth. point is, i couldnt be more happy with it. its simple, almost iconic, fits my interests, its reflective, and nobody else has one quite like it. Nick 1733
Okay, here's a new set based on something that I've never seen someone use before.I took the 'format' and took out the star and replaced it with fire, I didn't want to use anything but blue. I also make the font look better, so now it's a custom font. MLB, NBA, NFL & NHL Font Packs

Nick 1733
YEAH! except put the black outline around the WA The outline around the WA in the fireball is supposed to be navy, not black and there's supposed to be a silver outline around the circle on the bottom right. andrewharrington
its a great idea. absolutely perfect with the custom font work. a few things that would please me? i think the script logo would be stronger without the arrow thing behind the word DESIGNS. its angularity juxtaposes the smoothness of the flame and therefore does not allow the flame to fully dominate as THE icon. now that i study it though, if you make the flame the same color as the arrow, i think it may work. i think the fact that the flame is black and the arrow is navy blue (the worst clash in history) is throwing off my verdict on it. (monitor situation understood if that was inadvertent.) also, i think the circle one can be ditched, and the color palette can be condensed to 2 or 3 colors maximum. I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry [The postings on this site are my own and do not necessarily represent the position, strategy or opinions of adidas and/or its brands.]
