I think one of the reasons that we don't have the nickname is because we don't have the people to give them out as we did in the past. We still have two pretty good ones though, who surprisingly have good nicknames themselves. Kenny "The Jet" Smith and Chris "Boomer" Berman.

Just a note about the repeating of nicknames. Drew Gooden who had been know as "The Truth" decided to change his nickname upon entering the NBA b/c it was already Paul Pierce's. He then came up with "The Big Drizzle".

with that said,

The cowboys had Darryl "moose" JOhnston.

i've dubbed David Carr of the TExans, David "sports" Carr or better known as [R]Viper GT-S :grin:

Michael Vick i sometimes call Vick the slick.

I know the Orioles have a bunch of local nicknames

"Miggy"= Miguel Tejada

"R-Lo"= Rodrigo Lopez

"B-Rob"= Brian Roberts

"El Lardo"= Sidney Ponson

"Gibby"= Jay Gibbons

"J-Unit"= Jay Gibbons (not really a nickname, but more of a fan club of his. Just thought I'd add it.)

The Red Sox have "Cowboy" - Kevin Millar, and of course "Big Papi"- David Ortiz. Most other nicknames I can think of are just a derivative of a name. The only one that may be lesser known on that team may be "Johnny Nitro" for Damon.

They also refer to Sebastian Janikowski as "Sea Bass."

I also like Dave Andreychuk - Wood, as in he skates as fast as.

But it's not like the old days:

Jack Tatum - the Assassin

Lester "the Molester" Hayes

Earl Campbell - The Tyler Rose

Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch

Al "the Mad Hungarian" Hrabosky

Bill "Spaceman" Lee

"Pistol" Pete Maravich

Dominique Wilkins - The Human Highlight Film
