Brass
Hey guys. I never told you this, but I recently got a job with the Boston Red Sox in public relations, after I moved to Boston. Well I got wind that they will probably be ditching the red alternate at mid-season and will unveil a new one. Don't ask me why, as I am just the messanger, but just wanted to let you guys know. slapshot
It must be a subtle change, because if one of the Red Sox takes a leak, it's news around here. But here are my guesses on what's happening with the alts:1. They're keeping the red one, but using white letters/numbers with a blue outline (for legibility, pretty much what's on the batting jerseys right now)2. Back to a blue jersey with red letters/numbers & white outlines, basically the previous version of batting jerseys/spring training unis.3. A vest with the socks part of the main logo. There's no history of a vest for the Sox, but since it's Schilling's team now, maybe he liked vests when he played for Arizona and wants that style here. RyanB06
I think #1 will be what we'll see; those blue numbers on the red alternates were murder on the eyes to see...
FiddySicks
Well I heard that they're getting a whole new one. yeah but i doubt it would be a huge change like gold plated jerseys with the words "Boston Red Sox World series champions of 2004 which ended 80 some odd years of frustration, and by the way, fluff you nomar" and curves across the jersey like mark grudzelanicks name on his cubs jersey from the bottom one one side to the bottom on the other side, if ya know what i mean

DEAD!
i hope they're navy blue, with RED SOX on the front in red, outlined in white... That would be my guess....
Byron19
They won't be navy, the Sox' new owners really want to stress the RED in Red Sox. BTW, this is the first I've heard of this. Can you give some more info ... I'd like to post this to a Sox message board I frequent.
slapshot
The team name is the Red Sox, not the Red Jerseys. I think the Blue batting jerseys they had were great, and actually made the red stand out more because everything wasn't so saturated. If it weren't for the glut of blue or navy alts in the league already (Cleveland, Seattle, Minnesota, Toronto at the time, Kansas City and Texas), the Sox might not have switched to red. As it is, all the red looks too much like the Angles of Los Angeles formely of Anaheim used to be California at one time Los Angeles.
